Star Spangled banner singing flap!!!

I just watched a video clip of Steven Tyler singing the National Anthem before a foot ball game. Much was being made of the fact that he did not do the best job singing anthem. His singing voice was not great but he did not get too cute and he got the words right. Nothing like Roseann Barr did.

What really made me madd was watching the video showing very few standing with their hands over their hearts. Some where even prancing around. I have stood at attention and placed my hands together behind my back facing the flag. I have never just stood there. Never walked around or talked!!!!

I sickens me that the people today can't even take a few seconds and show respect to our flag/country. Maybe the free loading "rich" boys playing a game for big dollars should be the ones dying to protect this country????

Our local basketball coach is a vet. I saw him make the entire team run fifty laps around the gym right after a game because two of the players talked during the anthem. If I had ever disrespected the flag/anthem like that I would not have been able to sit for a week.

This current generation make me fear for what this country will become.

The girl singing the Star Spangled Banner at the NY, and SF game on the left coast this after noon did a real good job also. She didn't try to be funny, and wasen't a bad looker either. Stan

People just ain't the same as they used to be... Careful, someone's gonna call ya a selfcentered small puncture wound pretty soon  I see it with folks twice a day around here when the flag goes up and down... I've blocked doors, stepped in the middle of the street, yelled at folks, whatever... Just to make them stop and stand.....

Say what you will, but they still have prayer before each race in NASCAR. God Bless America, Bless the Flag and all it stands for and all those that DEFEND IT.

The Star-Spangled Banner is very difficult to sing correctly, even if you can remember the words. You would think that Rosanne would have convinced sports teams that it's a bad idea to let celebrities sing it, even those (like Tyler) who actually sing for a living.

Of course we could change the national anthem to a song that people can actually sing, such as "America the Beautiful". But that will never happen. So we should leave it to those who've proven they can sing it. Like Karen Newman, who sings at the Red Wings games.

These people they get to sing the N.A. dont get vetted any better than Obamer did !! Mike Rowe sang it on Dirty Jobs one time when he was at a Minnor League ball game , did as good a job as anyone ever has and made me feel it . You could tell he felt it too .

yeah, Karen Newman! I get upset when they're in a commercial on TV when she sings the anthem before Red Wing games. She's a great singer, check out her Christmas album. And she always looks great doing it, too.

J.D., all of them doing that did not have to fight for that flag and have no respect for those who did!

In my opion if the Vet,s (or peoples) that are offened by the actions of others that refuse to respect and honor the flag and the people who fought for our flag would not support the big sports teams on TV or go to the events for a year maybe someone would get the hint and it would change things back to the way it is susposed to be. I'll bet that never happens.

id have to say the best singing of the usa anthem and the canadian anthem is at the tractor pulls in bowling green ohio, girl started when she was about ten and is in her mid teens now..

They're not even going to miss you if you "boycott." There are 1000 people standing in line behind you to buy your ticket.

That is your new school systems for. Gotta teach everything but American history. Plus most people today have had every thing handed to them. I think we should take away all their toys and comfort items. Let them see what the world is really like.

Also I think we should set up a month long course on combat. Put them in the field for a month. With all the simulaters for combat. Maybe throw in some real explosions for effect. Let them see what some of us vets went through.

Even at home, when a baseball game or nascar race sings the national anthem i take the time to pause what i'am doing, ans every time i hear that song i still get the goose bumps on my arms, doesn't matter who sings it at the time just powerful words. at the end i thank my brothers, for their time served.

A guy in front of my at the HS basketball game fri. night put his hand over his heart and left his ball cap on. I was going to say something but decided to just leave it alone. I think alot of people just don't get it. He was probably about forty years old too.

They make it sound harder than it is. Requires a vocal range of about one and a half octaves, which should be do-able for anyone who sings much.

The trick is, the third note of the song ("say"), is the lowest note in it. Hum the lowest note you can comfortably sing, then go up a fifth, and there's your starting note. Don't even have to have a pitch pipe.

My best friend asked me to sing it for his Air Force Reserve retirement ceremony- I was honored to do it. And believe me, no improvisation, in a room full of military folks. Strictly by the book, and as close to the traditional tempo as I could.

I thought Kristen Chenowith did a great job before the Giants- 49ers game.

It's probably been about two years now, so my little one was probably 4. When the honor guard came by at the front of the parade, she (none to quietly) "whispered" to me about some adults around us that weren't "holding their hearts". They hopped up and paid proper respect right away.

Definitely them school teachers fault.
