Yes it sold for that. N.H. Boomer that Jay used as a tug for his cars. New Holland also threw in a Rustler to get the price up some.

I wonder if Barrett Jackson donated their 10% buyers fee and 8% sellers fee to the Fisher House also?????

They don't charge percentages on charity sales. I'm sure they somehow deduct the money they would have received as a charitable donation though.

Someone generous gave money to charity and got a
tractor in the deal. They can probably right it
off. There are no fee's involved for charity
items. Jay Leno looks good cause he donated the
tractor. He wanted the bid to go over $600,000.
$65,000 for him is pocket change to the rest of
us. It's a very nice thing he donated the tractor
but a lot of times millionaire celebrities donate
their name or endorsement in lew of being paid.
The generous celebrities will also put some of
their own money towards the charity. Barret
Jackson doesn't charge any commission for charity
items but considering they make millions perhaps
they could also donate some money? Maybe they do
anonymously, I don't know.

Who says Barrett-Jackson doesn't donate a ton of money to charity already? Odds are they probably have their own charitable foundation, and give hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity every year. It's good PR, and good for the tax bill.

But....

I thought we were all in favor of letting the rich keep their money so they can create jobs...

Lots of rich folks donate a lot to charity, and this is kind of a high-profile way to do it. Bjuyers usually donate the item to some museum or charity as well, so they can write off the whole thing. Barrett Jackson doesn't charge any commission or buyers fee, so its a pretty clean deal. They also have a certified appraiser available, so if the buyer did happen to want to keep the vehicle, they can appraise it and buyer can reduce the write off by the actual value of the car he is keeping.

The ones that really pull in the cash are the veterans charities- something was donated for Wounded Warriors- I think it went for $150,000 or some such, and some guy standing there said he would match it.
