FORD escapes------good,bad?

KIA Sportage will get you more bang for the buck and prolly be more dependable.... I've got a 97 that just won't tear up......

My mother had one, dont remember the year but it always had alot of road noise inside. Other than that it seemed decent. jstpa

I bought a new one 9 months ago, Nice little truck, 4cyl. front wheel drive. 28mpg. I have the XLT version, has all creature comforts that anyone would need, Heated seats would be nice when it is 0F outside.......But......I can let it warm up too.
I havent owned it long enough to have problems with it yet.

We're on our 2nd Mazda Tribute..which is the same as the Escape. Wonderful SUV's. Virtually no problems on either of them. A little more road noise than I'd like but all in all a terrific little SUV

My wife has had one since the came out. She uses the v 6 and the last 2 have been only front wheel drive. She trades every two years so only getsw 35,000 or less but never any problem. Someone mentioned road noise they use to come with cheap continal tires and di have road noise. we always got michlin had less noise. The last two have been the more expensive scape limited and they are real quite. Think you will like the ride.

Except the Escape is made from less than 65% American sourced parts. Is it really American when the "Japanese" Toyota Sienna is near 89% American sourced parts (more than the Ford F150).

My wife has a 2003 Limited, bought it new. No real problems, has 140K on it now. Tires, brakes, exhaust system, struts and shocks, had a rear axle seal go. Been a really good vehicle. Good in the snow, decent mileage, comfortable. The only thing I'd say isn't "great" is the heat - takes a long time to warm up the interior, and the defroster will not keep the windshield thawed in a snow storm.

Will probably be trading hers in this spring for another one, if that tells you anything.

Escapes are the same vehicle as the Tribute, different sheet metal.

In name only I would suggest, the parts will be purchased wherever they are the cheapest.
Like our orange juice" made from local and imported ingredients" yes.. the bottle and water, the rest is Brazilian with all their banned chemicals[in this country] as they just discovered.
30c a litre, Local Farmers are getting 5c.

American? Gee my F-150 was made in Canada, the daughter's Fusion in Mexico, the Wife's Grand Caravan in Canada oh yes our Honda Accord in Ohio, gee isn't that in America?

We have an 05 model XLT and is has been a very good vehicle. 3.0 V-6 is so far ahead of the 4 cylinder. The pitifully weak 4 cylinder can't get out of it's own way. Only problem in 149,000 has been replacing coil pack on #3 cylinder, replacing spark plugs and getting rid of those d#*# Continental O.E.M. tires which had every tread belt in them break and became flat sided tires. It is 2 wheel drive and delivers a consistent 20-25 mpg depending whether in town or on open road. We would buy another one and give this one good marks except for the heater could be a little better and you sometimes have to almost spoon feed gasoline into the tank..

We have owned one for a year, little 4 cylinder, and it is a great rig. good gas mileage, and the 4 cylinder has plenty of zip. The stability and traction control are great. really good when the roads are bad.

At least a Ford is a American Company.

Take a look at how many American parts are in that mazda tribute, I mean ford escape.....
Dell is an American company also... Along with sears, buck knives, montana silversmith's, and plenty others...Take a look at how much of thier stuff has "made in china" on it

Drive whatever you want.If you want to eat macaroni & cheese while maintaining that "American" vehicle so some other folks can enjoy steak & sushi.... so be it....... I bought a 97 kia sportage 4 years ago and it just won't stop.......

Four years ago I got one that was two years old with 14,000 miles on it. It is V-6 front wheel drive, as others say a little noisy. It now has about 40,000 and we have had no repairs at all.

We have the Mercury Mariner version, Primer
moder, all wheel drive, with every accessory,
V-6 gets 26.4 MPG on road trips, 23 on local
trips, 4 wheel drive goes through Wisconsin
snow great. We have 36000 miles on it now. Only
complaint is OEM Continental tires are very
noisey on dry pavement, but still look like new,
it will probably be 2 or 3 years before they've
worn enough to replace.

I bought a used 2005 Escape XLT in 2009. It now has 53000 miles. Excellent vehicle. 4 wheel drive with the V6, decent mileage and very good in Minnesota winters and summers. I would by one again, but for now this one is just great.

We have a 2006 Escape limited 3.0 V6 at 55,000 miles we had to replace the front cylinder head. Burnt an exhaust valve $1800.00 right after that replaced a coil. No, service engine soon light or nothing she came home from work one night and said it was"nt running right. Have a 2001 Ford Windstar has 194,000 on it still going strong.
