John Deere 42 pull type combine

I am trying to figure out how many of the 42 combines were made. I know they were only produced for 6 or 7 years. I have also been trying to find any sort of serial number list to determine the year it was built. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In 1961 they started with no. 501

Started with 1501 in 1962

3001 in 1963

4001 in 1964

5001 in 1965

6001 in 1966

So I am guessing that over 1000 were made in 1962.

And under 1000 the other 5 years.

I have read that alot of the combine serial numbers were not used, if true then there are even less built than your numbers. A 42 is a neay little combine that I would like to have someday.A friend had a 42 square back with both corn and grain head, worked great with 2510, but latter a 4020 was used and they admit to overpowering it and destroying the combine.
