Do any of you have a trick to cure a sticking cam follower in a diesel engine? I dont really have the time to pull the cam and drop the followers out the bottom. thanks

I know this sounds stupid, and I've never done it, but an old neighbor of mine used to swear by MarvelOil for his problems, and another used a can of STP in his crankcase. Can't hurt---

If you ever had to overhaul an engine that had STP used in it you wiuld never wnat to see another can of it again!

When I think I have a problem in the valves I use a product called Rislone. It seems to disolve the varnish that's causing the problem. Works great on lifters.

here is the problem. the valves were noisy so I went to adjust them when I noticed the follower on the intake valve on #4 was sticking some. you can rotate the engine and push down on it and it goes down but it just shouldnt be like that. It runs fine but still makes a little more noise then I like to hear. I use this machine every day for several hours. if not for that I would just pull the cam and put new followers in it.

My Dad's old Allis B was so sludged up from years of not being worked and non-detergent oil that you literally could not see the vaalve springs. Some flushing with Berrymans B12 washed it off and freed the valves very well. It really rtan good afterwards. Great stuff, I would give it a try. Let it idle and squirt it down past the pushrods. Probably some on the valves wouldn't hurt either.
