Can I run 16.9/18.4 X 30 tubes in a 14.9 X 30 tire?
Taking care of some rust here due to CaCl so broke the tires down. Rims go to the sand blaster tomorrow. I think the old tubes might have been 28" as they were REALLY STRETCHED over the rims so I just cut them out.
I will remount the old 14.9 X 30 carcasses for now but will buy 16.9 X 30 when I find a decent used set.
I have a real good pair of 16.9/18.4 X 30 tubes but have heard it will damage them if they are bunched up anywhere. Hate to ruin them.
Just wanting to get the tractor back on all fours for the time being. I do have some 28" tubes I could STRETCH back in there.
Thanks for any advice.

Tubes big enough that they fold will give out pretty quickly at a crease.
Tubes small enough that they are stretched will not give a long life either, but I agree that you're probably better off with the stretched one.

Yes they will wrinkle, but they will probably last as long as the old tires are left on the tractor. You should use them,as they will detiriorate if they are stored indefinatly.I once crammed a 15.5 tube into a 11.2 tire...it lasted for 5+years(on light duty).Steve

They'll not hold up very long. Get the right size tubes. Too much "material", they'll crease and scuff, giving out way too quick. BTDT, used 14.9X28 tubes in a 12'4x28 tire/wheel. They were premium quality tubes, but didn't make it through one summer.

I think you will find they are the same tube, tubes fit more than one size tire.

Nah, the tube is going to get pinched or creased. If it's big enough for an 18.4 it's way too big for a 14.9.... Usually you can go one size up or down without too much trouble. After that you're asking for trouble.
I'd mount them tubeless if the rims are decent enough.
