I see some very nice shops on here. I thought I'd put some of my "nightmare" up for you guys. A little finish work and electric and it should be done. I've worked on 4 tractors in here this winter and next week it is on to the planter. It sure beats being out in the cold.

Way to clean and tidy to be my shop. I gotta have piles of stuff around. Cribbing stacked in the corners. A work bench piled high with roundtuit projects. I admire your cleanliness and organization.A very fine lookig building and shop. Good for you gobble

Very very nice. 200 amp service is awesome too. I can't tell in the pickup truck photo, is that a heat duct up in the corner? One thing I've been noticing in all of the new barn photos I've been seeing, everyone is finishing the walls on the inside. I guess, makes for far better insulation than I have, thats for sure.

Very, very nice.

(quoted from post at 16:57:06 01/06/12) real nice.Far from a nightmare.

It was a nightmare because the building was half done and the company took off and never came back. I've had several calls from folks that got took worse than me. I really feel for them spending their hard worked for $ gone. One guy got a couple doors delivered and that was it.

I put in raidiant heat and insulation and absolutly love it. You can open the door and run a machine in and it gets warmed up again pretty fast. I went with sheeting on the inside for 2 reasons. 1, you can have sparks flying and not worry about getting the insulation on fire and 2 it brightens the lighting up. It really pops that light. And it'll wash down easily if it gets to dirtry.

Agreed Wayne - But I like the Porta Johns you can move anywhere!

PS: Nice shop there Husker - How did you decide on the color?

I was aiming for that old barn color as the barn on this place had been gone since the 70's. I'm waiting for the guy to get the porta pots, we had a new years eve party since it's probably as clean as it'll ever be.

Lookin' good. You got close on the color too. I know what you mean about the nightmare. We had a similar situation in this area recently, only they were selling carports, take the money and disappear. But they arrested these guys.

There was a couple here that took a lot of money up front and then ran with the money. They are in jail but the buildings never got built. I payed half on delivery and the other half when finished.

I have always advised welder right by the door,,with a pad outside. When the weather is right you will do that welding outside. Cuts down on chance of fire and also cooler in hot weather. Very nice done shop. Get used to AND MAKE your self get in the habit off opening the rollup ALL the way up.

Were their names George and Karla by chance? They have scammed people in Ne. s.d. n.d. wy, and mont. and are advertising in minn. ia etc...trying to go through the midwest. One guy who called me said they delivered him a trailor of 2x4 s and that was it.

I have tube heat in my shop too. They sure make nice heat don't they? I know they are not the most efficient but they sure are comfortable.

Nice shop!! I really like the steel table on casters, with a vise. We had one like that at work, really handy on big jobs.

Something else I've noticed is that folks are surface mounting the electrical - that way you can change it anytime, plus it doesn't create voids in the insulation.

I am getting jealous. I work on stuff everyday and really dont have a good shop.I do have some concrete to split tractors but most everything I work outside. I think I am going to build a shop at least so I can take pics and show it off on this board.

The door is 14 tall, was a 16 footer but the idiots built the thing 9" to short so we had to put a panel in storage in the back end. I can get the combine in without lowering the bin extention but the next one we'll have to see. They aren't getting any shorter. I guess It's there if I ruin one panel. I really like the heat in there. I need to insulate the metal celing as we insulated to the peak and there is a lot of space between. I have to look at the brand. It cost me $2500 installed.

Thanks for everyones positive opinions of my shop. With all the trouble I'd had with that company it makes me feel good that what we did to salvage it turned out well. One of the few "bright spots" with it for sure. I've seen a lot of good ideas with others shops on here I'm going to incorporate into mine. Thanks again for the positive feedback.

Really really nice. I admire folks who go the extra mile. I know
you are thrilled with it. Most of my life I have been a functional
guy paying more attention to things that work to get the job
done rather than finishing out the job which usually includes the
asthetic effort.

I noticed you paneled the inside which I suppose is because you
are located in a northern climate (to Texas) and you used it to
protect your building insulation. Do you heat the whole shop, or
just spot heat where you work?

What's under the cover with Camaro written on it?

Here is a photo of the shop I had built by a few Okie's from Muskogee (BCI, Inc.) in 2005 when I retired. It's 30x50 x 12h with a full length 15' shed. Just right for my small operation and I spend most days in it.

Very nice building Mark. I like that lean to on it. I got a '11 2ssrs under the cover. Was a nice day yesterday so me and my boys went for a drive...turned the odometer to 2200 miles. And the whole shop is heated.
