How are your scrap prices? I hauled a small load today, the first in 20 or more years.
Compact car transmissions with aluminum housing are .20 per pound, steel is .11, electric motors are .20 including submersible pumps. I had one clean aluminum condenser coil that was .90.
But I was disappointed that they tried to trick me. The pay master handed me the ticket which showed $60.00 while also handing me two $20s and one $10. For me that totals $50. You got to watch them.
 
I'm surprised they pay cash. The crusher here pays by check only and if it's over $1000.00,they have to have two employees sign it. They have to pay by 4:30 PM too. I had more stuff to haul in the next day and wanted to wait for just one check and she said no,she had to settle by 4:30 each day.
 
Haven't taken in any alum, copper or brass as the prices are way down. Did take in some steel back in Dec. Shred was $200./T and #2 was #250./T. in Illinois.
 
Theones close to me pay cash unless its over $2000. We just had a fellow get killed trying to steal copper from the top of a old cotton mill. His brother turned him in as missing and his cousin confessed that he was with him when got electricuted.
 
The price in Mason City Ia is $200 per ton unprepared and they are not real fussy about tires as the load processor or shredder seems to be able to sort it.They also have large flatbeds with sides you can use.Thats the best way just load as you go and not worry about sorting.
