Decided to hook up the old IH disc to "1011" our "53 Model 70 yesterday and do a little early ground work for Spring.

Went down to "the bottom" to disc an area for eventual Spring planting.

Back in the Summer we used a spring-tooth harrow to pull up roots in this area.

Nancy and I trimmed limbs from several small oak trees to make it easier to maneuver a tractor for mowing.

First time in many years that the old IH disc has been used, but it still did a good job.

We will probably go back down to "the bottom" today and pick up roots and sticks.

beautiful! I have a first cousin who lives in Texas,I have not seen here since we were young,I have to look up her adress and see if she is any where close to you ,

It sure looks nice. Don't know whether to be envious, or feel sorry for you. Here in the soaked Northeast finding windows to get ANYTHING done is a challenge. But then last July during the little heat wave, the water shut right off, and we narrowly escaped disaster. Sure wish we could share and trade the weather around a little.

It looks like it worked up nicely.

I imagine your 70 was loafing along with that disc.

Used the same tractor with the spring-tooth harrow.

Plenty of power to cut through the sandy loam soil.

About half throttle for a smoother ride.

We're expecting a freeze the next couple of nights.

Wanted to get the roots exposed to help kill off some of the weeds.

Since "the bottom" is the lowest area on the farm, we still had green grass even during the summer drought.

Many years we couldn't get down there until late July or August.

Unseasonably warm weather here the last couple of days; we've been able to get a lot of work done.

I doubt if I could get time to take a trip that far,but sure would like too! Thank you for the kind invite,it would be nice for you and Nancy to come up our way to visit us ( bring some of that peanut brittle when you do) lol..., ON second thought, you better not bring the peanut brittle,I have to drop some pounds
