Well of course you are from Ontario...we called cultivators "scufflers, and you scuffled beans and corn..to us a cultivator was a field cultivator you used to prep seed beds..so a scuffler is really a cultivator for row crops..all depends where ya live...we called wheel plows one way discs too!

I didn't know what it is....and I live only 110 miles..ooops, 176 clicks from Canada. Guess I shoulda got over that way more...Oh well, in my next life........

Yep, I looked it up on dictionary.com and one of the meanings was a cultivating hoe that was pushed, not pulled. Y'larn sumpin' everday, don'tchew?

Charles: Why build one? It is not too hard to find mid-mount cultivators of various brands still around In fact John Deeres are one of the most common. It might take a few modifications to fit your particular tractor but certainly far, far easier & cheaper than building from scratch. I think there are a couple at Marsh Bros in Dundas Ont right now, although they might be bigger than you are looking for (one is a 12 row, I think)

John Deere 1830 is a low-profile utility tractor. There's no clearance under the belly for the center "scuffler" to lift, so it will have to be mounted to the 3pt hitch.

I've seen Ih utilities with front mounted cultivators like this, and they're the same. The center unit is behind the tractor.

Unless you plan to scuffle 100's of hectares, a rear-mounted 3pt hitch scuffler would seem to make more practical sense. You can buy one ready made, used, pretty cheap.

As previously posted here. If you talk about a scuffler you will baffle 95%of the folk here. Found that out years ago.
Build a scuffler or remodel and existing unit to fit?
Lots of old units around from two cylinder but 99% of them are missing the dirt shields.
