Here's a picture of a turnip/rye patch I put in for the whitetails. Got a late start due to the dry weather in August. Finally got it in, in September. Took a nice doe off it in mid October with a bow, pastor from church got a small buck the 2nd day of gun season. Went over yesterday to dig a few turnips for the table, found that the deer have eaten the tops pretty good even though the frost has taken a toll on them.

Here's a picture of a little "whitetail buck" trying to enjoy the bulbs.

Merry Christmas! Mark

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say it looks like he's got plenty to spare.

Wife brought home about a half pickup load of stuff a coworker of hers cleaned out of their garden- including several turnips- to throw in for the goats. Goats ate pretty much everything, except the turnip bulbs. Pretty big ones- maybe they couldn't get a good "bite" on them- guess I'll chop a couple up, and see if they like 'em.

Do you use the greens in salad? I grow german turnips (kohlrabi), the leaves are good to add in salad.

My boss had a little too much to drink (i think) once and bought one of those brittanys at a pheasants for ever auction. It clashed with his new wife and I ended up buying the dog for about a 1/4 of what he paid for it. That was the smartest, prettiest, just a neat dog. He developed some tumors on the inside of one back leg and after a couple of surgerys had to be put to sleep.
