Anyone own a Ford Ecoboost PU? A friend of mine told me he had a crewcab 4WD,auto trans that he got 17+ mpg just puttering around IE no highway driving. He also stated it pulled a loaded 20' GN stock trailer very well.

My Dad has an extended cab, 4X4 that he is very happy with. He has had it for several months, not sure the current mileage on it. Doesn't tow too much, hauls a New Holland 45hp with loader occaisonally. Traded a 2008 Dodge full 4 door 4x4 Hemi on it, likes the mileage on the 150 lots better.

Don't know of anyone that has one but I could see it towing OK. 365 HP and 420 ft pds torque is more hp and slightly less torque than the 7.3 turbo had in the 1990s and people think it could pull the earth.

I was wondering how they were working, and holding up also. I like the turbo-charged gas idea if they are reliable. I"d rather have that than a new diesel right now.

All of the customers who we"ve sold new eco
boost trks to are Very happy.. Lotts of power
& good mileage.. Whether they stand up for a
like time remains to be seen, so far so good!

A good friend of mine bought one this summer, He likes it with the 3.7 Ecoboost engine.
He pulled a camper with his, 600 mile round trip, 10MPH with camper.
He loves it.

Maybe it's coming, but until that engine becomes available in the F250 and F350, I don't think it should be considered a REAL truck engine.

Jim, i have a 2011 with the max tow package and i like it very much. it gets nearly 20mpg local and 21+ highway. when towing my 9600lb. tractor on a gooseneck it gets almost 10mpg in the hills of the northeast. i think it is under rated as far as horsepower and torque go. it flies up hills that other gas trucks struggle on. it is amazing how long it stays in od when towing a heavy load the engine is very quiet even at full throttle. when empty it is really fast and you are going 90mph before you realize it, especially when you are getting up to speed to merge coming off an
on ramp.well i guess you can see i really like this truck, chuck ps, rustyfarmall, this truck has a gvw of 8200 and can carry about the same as a base f-250,maybe you should test drive one. merry Christmas and happy new year to all

I'd be scared of them, My last 150 had the 4.6 V8 and the dealer wasn't competent enough to make it run right, and Ford wasn't inclined to make them fix it. the Ecoboost might be a good engine, but if you get one that's wrong Ford is happy to let the dealer abuse you, not fix it and then call you every six months and gloat over it. Ask them if they'll print the warranty on a roll of toilet paper so it'll have some value.

Replaced an 09 v8 that ran around 17.8 running around to 18.5 on long road trips. 10 weeks in to this one (4 X4) just like the 09 and it is running 19.5 to 22 or so with more performance.
I use the truck as a car have big trucks for heavy hauling but have traded f 150,s ever two years since 1979 chev . Usuasly get about 55,000 in the two years , So far I would say I like this one better than any I have had. I was a little concerned about the realibility but got go with what is out there. I just can,t see the advantage of diesel for me.

8,200 is just a wee bit light for what I need, and since Ford had a brainf**t and closed down all the dealers within driving distance, I won't even consider buying a Ford.

Sounds like the typical Ford dealer. I came home from the hospital in a Ford, drove Fords growing up and bought Fords for most of my adult life. Then I moved near Manhattan KS and the local Ford dealer made sure I never bought another new Ford again. I'll buy a used one, but I'll never buy one with a warranty that requires I go to the Ford dealer for repair.

We had issues with every Ford they serviced but the last one was the last chance. I bought a new 2006 Freestyle for my wife. Well over 30 trips to the dealer for minor repairs that should have been taken care of in two or three. The final came when I had the transmission oil changed at 60K just like it says in the manual. It is a constant variable speed transmission and no one but the dealer services it (Midas and others just said they don't touch them). Made my appointment a week in advance and dropped it off. Went to pick it up and they still had it on the lift - they didn't have the filter in stock. Got it back the next day after having to hitch a ride home and back to work. Two weeks later it was leaking out of both half shafts, one per the shop manual has to be removed to change the filter. Brought it back - "Naw we didn't remove the half shafts" and the bill is on you. It ran me about $850 to change the transmission oil. Traded it a week late for new Kia Sedona, its been in the shop once in 60K miles.
