Last angr;y; farmers part III

Yet another follow up to the last farmer that has cows within village limits.

I mentioned earlier he ran for Town Supervisor and lost. Then posted an angry sign about the "dumb" voters. Then posted an angry sign about the local environmental cop.

Then somebody snuck over there at night and changed one on his signs with the "idiot."

He has decided to leave the sign as-is. Seems he feels it makes the "village people" look dumber then him. Maybe he's right?

I got the local gossip this morning about one of the signs. The local environmental cop entered his farm land without asking. The farmer accused him of trespassing. The cop said he can go where he wants because he's a law officer.

A few days later the farmer found a rabid raccoon in his barn and shot it with a .22. Somebody across the state highway at the Stewarts Shop heard it and reported it. The farmer was given two tickets for shooting the sick coon too close to the State Highway. His barn is maybe 150 feet.

Curious to see what happens next.

The old signs . .

Why do I have the feeling this guy's feud with the town is not going to end well and make the news. It just seems somebody on either side is going to push it to far. I hate biding my time when I have a beef with someone but a lot of times it is the smart play.

Expanding villages or cities is a problem. I believe that the farmer has the right to farm, the right to farm is part of the bundle of rights purchsed with the land if it was purchased fee simple. ANY attempt to limit the landowner's right to conduct or pursue agricultural endovers with in accepted agricultural practices would be a seziure of rights conffered with the fee simple transfer of the land, and even if due process was involved it would be seizure or rights or property with out fair and adequate compensation. But to make a simple statement I think this guy to be an idiot, if he had a good lawyer the village would be in bad financial straits, but he is to hard headed to hire a lawyer, they will probaly push him until something stupid and regreatable happens, they are as bad has he is only they cover their tracks with the law.

Can't say I'd have voted for the guy either. His spelling alone seems to be terrible, which does not put his intelligence in a good light. I have a severe problem voting for (essentially hiring) people like that.

those sneaky blanks. i wish i lived closer, this guy needs reinforcements. its not about the election, not about grammar. its the fact he is outnumbered by righteous, lazy, cell phone addicted
city folk. those smelly cows. i have been there.
i support him 100%.

Jason there are two reasons why politicans do ill. Yes no reason is because more than a few do not know any better. Former President Carter comes to mind. I've met him, and have a good deal of respect for the man, yet, there is no denying that he was not firmly in control of his administration. These leaders can be taught. When you consider that almost no one knows the job until they have the job, had the man in question won, his ability to damage the public trust is far more limited than we might expect. The second reason that politicians do poorly is because many are opportunist who by design fail to meet the publics objective in favor of their own. These leaders are the more dangerous ones, and their ability to destroy the public's will. These insidious politicans are the ones I fear. I would prefer a dumb leader to an opportunist anyday. We can teach which plan is right, yet, if one isn't motivated by a desire to do right, what is there to teach?

I completely agree Bob. If I, or anyone else for that matter, were to run for an office I believe it should be looked upon as a job interview. Furthermore any statements, signs, etc. used in the campaign should act as a resume. I personally wouldn't even think to provide a prospective employer with a resume I wasn't 100% sure was spotless as far as grammar and spelling, let alone truthful.

Imagine, Jason, that you are an employer, and according to your mataphore, as a voter you are. You have a mental picture of the ideal candidate, an intelligent, articluate man of deep integrity. You see a lot of those seeking public office? I don't. You still have to fill the position, so of the two potential applicants, who do you hire, the not as bright man of integrity who lives to do what is right by the voters or the self seeking opportunist who though greatly intelligent, is only looking to use the job to pad his pockets at your expense?

If the truth be known I'll bet many of our Founding Fathers were just as 'uneducated' as this man. Spelling and grammer have nothing at all to do with a man's ability to know what is right and wrong and how to lead others.

I don't see alot of deep integrity candidates either. However, it is my opinion that if I had the choice to vote between a "less intelligent man of integrity" or a "self serving model candidate" I would vote for neither. My theory is if a self- serving man is in office he helps himself. If a weak minded individual is in office everyone helps themself.

You must remember an elected official is your representative. Would you want an individual, such as this one in the topic, to represent you with his colorful, misspelled, poorly written signs? He may have the best of intentions, and be the absolute nicest guy I would ever want to meet, but after seeing these signs alone I know that I don't want him to represent me.

I wish I could vote for an ideal candidate in each election, but more often than not, I have to deal with the reality that most candidates are terrible. Each election I must hold my nose and vote for the least objectionable candidate, and stupid beats evil.

Daniel looks like he is well and truly in the Den, for all that look at this site and see that he has numerous friends in the spelling class.e.g "breaks" stop the tractor.I know it stops work.
If it"s the same cop then it looks like a little payback, probably upset the neighbours also, it is not the thing I would call the Police for.

I, sorry to admit, have given up and stopped voting.

My mantra for next national election is

RE-ELECT NO ONE, send them all home.

We need one term limits and we the people can impose them by simply never re-electing any incumbent.

Pete

You take the one who doesn't hide the fact that he intends to pad his pockets at your expense... The one who appears to be a man of integrity has simply done a better job of hiding what he intends to do to you... which likely means he'll have fleeced you and hidden it and be long gone before it's figured out.
Very few people of actual integrity actually get involved in politics or active in running community organizations. It's not worth the aggravation... and most times you end up having to do things you despise simply to appease the majority anyhow.

ljd;
this is quite an interesting situation, i can't help but put in my two cents. don't know where this farm is located, as far as i know, in ca the only law enforcement officer who can come on your property without a warrant is a game warden, any other you can call the sheriff and have them removed. re; the rabid skunk, i think a person would have the right to protect himself and his property in a situation like that, if the skunk was not rabid then he had better possess a valid hunting license and not discharge a gun closer to a road than the law there allows.
re; the guy's spelling and grammar, i don't know about you guys, but as for myself i am pretty sick of these as i call "perfect glitter teeth politicians " college educated, never really had to work an honest job in their lives and are totally bankrupt in the morals dept. the point i am trying to make is, you don't have to have perfect spelling and grammar to have morals, ethics, values and last but not least common sense.
i think this man is trying to get his community to wake up to some things that are not right. i hope he has a sheriff in his county who believes in the constitution and takes his oath seriously to defend his citizens from gov't overreach or he is toast.
just my humble opinion.

i'm home from work. don deere you said it !!
this "aint" about grammar. this is about ONE
farmer, doing what he does (livelihood), inside the (probably moved) village limits. this is about a decent person not fitting in....i live it everyday. i want his address..i want to fund the contras...so to speak.

How astute of you. As if there is any correlation between literacy and tax-payer supported public education.

Here in New York, an "environmental officer" is, in essence, a game warden. That being said, he should of knocked on the farmer's door, or went into his milk-house and announced himself first.

In regard to animals? To be techincal, raccoon are small game and fur bearers and it was probably legal to shoot one when he did. Not legal though to dischage a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling or something like 250 feet from a public highway. So yeah, by the strict letter-of-the-law, he was supposed to call somebody and ask for "special permission" to shoot like he did. This ENCON officer (environmental conservation) could of used his discression and let the matter drop.

The problem is the average voter is not a "thinking man."

They don't vote for integrity. It's a popularity contest. They vote for the candidate with the nicest signs, the nicest ads, the nicest face, the nicest voice.

This farmer did everything he could to make himself look like a raving lunatic. He's probably gotten "vocal" at town board meetings over his situation. His signs are crude, poorly-designed, with spelling and obvious grammar errors. They're mounted on an old rusty wagon frame, and parked in front of a dumpy old barn.

If this farmer seriously wanted to win, he needed to play the game. Instead of flying off the handle when the man started giving him problems, he should have quietly plotted his quest for power. Never be seen in public without a shirt and tie (overalls, shirt and tie would be a nice touch, market yourself as "the farmin' politican"). Clean up the place so not so much as a speck of junk is visible from the road. Get a professional sign, and for God's sake, paint the wagon before you park it out there.

Being the candidate that refuses to play the game almost universally means you'll be the losing candidate.

Acting like a raving lunatic has pretty much sealed this farmer's fate. He's going to get squeezed out, all "legal-like" in a matter of a few years. Sad.

5020s rock;
i could not agree with you more, wish i had his address as well. he is spinning his wheels doing what he is doing. i'm sure there must be a few like minded people in his community that agree with him but are afraid to put anything on the line to back him. he needs to talk to someone like fred kelly grant in idaho , a property rights lawyer. fred is helping us here in siskiyou county. incidently fred was instrumental in preventing the super highway from being built from mexico to canada a few years back. it would have decimated thousands of acres of prime ag land and cut right through the middle of several towns. the kicker was, the road and a lot of land on either side of it would have been owned lock stock and barrel by a very wealthy family in either spain or france. all revenues generated ie motels, gas stations, etc. would have gone to them, not
anyone in our country. fred tutored three small town mayors in texas re the process of coordination. story in short they sent the feds packing. as a side comment, our primary candidate mr. perry was for this un american nonsense and did not lift a hand to help the small town mayors. also during a debate it was brought up that he had signed a bill into law that little kids down to the age of twelve could opt for a vaccination against stds without their parents knowledge. he later admitted this was a mistake. why am i saying this? i don't have an ax to grind with mr. perry, fact is i wouldn't vote for any of them running right now, i am just pointing out again this man is polished, well groomed, well educated and his GRAMMER almost perfect plus his signage probably flawless. you have to research the track record of these people or hang with people who do. if we don't we are for sure going to lose our republic. and our freedoms. hope i haven't offended anyone, well ......maybe i should have.
