What"s the best method to clean rust/crud from inside a Super C gas tank?
is there a spray in sealer/liner available??
thanks for the ideas!!
 
I used the gas tank sealer from the Eastwood Co. Be ready to spend a few hours cleaning and sealing. It ain"t no 5 minute job, but it came out good. For heavy rust, a handfull of stone works pretty well and then powerwash the inside.
 
on my A I tied the gas tank to my ford 3000 put small nuts ad bolts in it drove around at slow speed for about 20m flush it out. put a sealer in it. been 2yrs now no trouble yet. oops tied it on the back wheel.
 
throw 2ft dog chain in there to loosen crud + your liquid of choice mineral spirits, M E K, phosphoric acid just keep flushing till its clean napa sells liquid red coat for a sealer follow directions on the can
 
a chain in the tank, then strap to tractor tire and drive --makes a heck of a racket but works well. redkote is a good sealer. another option is electrolysis--I have done on a harley tank with good results, but is tricky when derusting interior of tank as you need the anode in the tank and the tank in the electrolyte solution. I wrapped the anode in a plastic net so I wouldn't ground out my battery charger. avoid rocks or nuts and bolts as they can be hard to retrieve.
