Tire Ballast Info

OK Guys, with all the recent talk about the differences in materials used for ballast, here's a chart showing the [b:88d266c93c]approximate[/b:88d266c93c] volumes for various size tires with the weight shown for water only,Anti-freeze,and calium chloride at two different mixes. I personally would believe that the washer fluid being talked about earlier would weigh right about the same as water alone, although I have no hard information to back this up. Again the figures used for the volumes of each tire are [b:88d266c93c]approximate[/b:88d266c93c] and I take no responsibility for them being correct. If anyone has better figures, please let know and I'll make corrections.Enjoy , and don't beat me up too bad.

Cliff........you do know the reason for washer
fluid don't you? It can be CHEAP at the end of the
winter driving season. (typically $1-gal) And it
don't FREEZE next winter. And unlike automobile
anti-feeze, Dogs don't like it. Anti-freeze is
sweet tasting to dogs and very poisonous.

Always remember to start yer tractor in REVERSE in
the winter time so yer ground FROZEN tires don't
rotate yer tractor over on top of you.

Yes Dell,
I do know the reason. I was not arguing for or against the use of anti-freeze. In the previous threads, there has been discussions regarding the difference in weights of the various products. I am simply trying to post the info concerning weight , and am very happy to allow everyone to choose the product that suits them. I don't feel that I am qualified to determine which products are better for anyone except myself.
Also I will point out tho that the washer fluid comes in several strenghs and you can't make the statement that it will not freeze. I currently have two gallons, one of which is good down to 32 degrees and the other down to 20.Stronger is available.
Have a great day.

Good charts Cliff. In Canada, washer fluid is good to -40F/C with some to -50. I've used old anti-freeze from garages- not quite as heavy as calcium but heavier than iron and no corrosion. Lately I've had 3 to 5 year old valve stems rot out even on the good Klebar tubes. Don't even get me started on new tubes today.....Ron

20 is all that is now avaible, used to be able to get 25 but no more. And that 20 stuff will freeze on windshield at 10 above. Wish I could get what you are saying is avaible but is not.
