Ferguson serging

I have 2 TO20's .One ran good for about 2 years then I didn't put enough AF in it and it cracked the block.I bought another TO and we swapped out some parts. It ran good one season but now it will"surge" when it is under load.It is as if it is getting gas then thinning out and the power goes down to nothing. On a level grade it is fine. I had the carb rebuilt but it is wide open when I use a bushhog or something. Is it time for an overhaul.Any help appreciated? Vince

Vencil Selvage........surging is usually the cause of BAD governor, NOT carburetor...... and NO, it is NOT time for engine overhaul, governor yes ..........Dell

since you mention the rust, its possible for a lean condition caused by plugged filters and things to do this in my opinion.

That type of problem can in fact be caused by one of 2 things. A carb not set right or clogged up can do that and even the best carb guy can miss something at times. Or a gov. that has a problem and on the Ferguson tractor there is a long drawn out set of thing you have to do to get the gov set correctly. A number of years ago I had to do some work on a TO20 that had gov problem and there was a guy on here that sent me to info on how to do it and it was like 4 or 5 pages of info

Have you looked into the screen in the carb inlet? Or a choke overtravelling? Good clean spark? I have heard of a condensor acting up when hot. HTH
