I have many devices that use an SD Memory Card. Id like to have more capacity so the SDHC (High Capacity) comes to mind HOWEVER if memory serves correct (no warrany on that lol) some older devices I have that used the regular SD card WILL NOT WORK IF I STICK AN SDHC IN THEM

What say you

I think there is an adaptor? Such gizmos are confusing to me also.

(quoted from post at 09:34:51 12/15/11) SDHC is not compatable with SD because SD uses 32 bit fat file sys compared to the 64 bit SDHC.

Well there ya go. Shows what I know, which is very little.

Didn't know myself, just googled it!

correct.

my older desktop from 04 had a sd card reader in it.. it would not read SDHC

my new netbook with reader WILL read them.. etc.

just about any older device that was limited to a 4g sd card WON'T read SDHC

Along similar lines---for the same topic, I have not seen memory cards, flash drives, etc. cheaper than they are right now. Generally under $1 per GB.

Example, the other day I saw a 64 GB flash drive for $47.

However back to the original topic---just so you are aware---there are different data transfer speeds for SD, SDHC, and micro-etc. cards which are called classes. 2,4,6,8, with 10 being the fastest.

Depending upon what device you will be using a card in you may need to consider the class rating required for it.

There are at least 6 types of SD (secure digital) cards that are not backwards compatible - and more coming out. Even your Novatel wireless USB modem takes an SD card (micro SD).

Some user manuals list the maximum size memory card that the device can handle. Manufacturer's support sites and help forums are another source for that information.

For what it's worth,I just got a new Kodak easyshare. In reading the directions ( Now that's a first) I see that you can use SD/SDHC in it.

You will need to check the specs or manual for each device to determine if they can use the larger card.
