Digital Cameras???

Everytime somebody asks which camera, I bragg on my little Sony Cybershot cause it takes good pics, uses AA batteries, and slips in the pocket easy.....
It started eating batteries lately tho to the point it's no fun to use....

Anyone found something simple, good, and takes normal batteries (or a decent lasting rechargeable) ??? And reasonably priced???

Thanks, Dave

Our Cannon cameras take AA batteries if that is
what you mean by normal.

Our first Cannon(300 Sure Shot) went bad after 6
years or so. We bought another Cannon(A590) when
it broke.

About a year later I decided to send the old one
it to the company to get it fixed. They fixed it
with no charge.

I'll always own a Cannon.

Cannon has some really nice pocket cameras. Some use AA and some use rechargeable. Mjne uses rechargeable and gets about 250 pictures to a recharge. Cannons seeem to get the best pictures. Look up Cannon Powershot on Amazon.

I've got an Olympus FE series. Uses 2 AA batteries and those batteries are good for many, many pictures. It also has a macro setting as well as a super macro setting for extreme close-up shots, and it's small enough to drop in my shirt pocket.

I'm a fan of the cannon point and shoots. I've gone through a couple because of mistreatment. Bouncing around in the jeep, dropped out of a deer stand, being covered in blood after taking a picture of a downed deer but they've always taken good pics and seem fairly well built.

I'll buy another if I ever need it but with this new iphone 4, I've always got a camera with me and I just don't pick the cannon up as much anymore.

I've always found CNET pretty useful in comparing cameras.

We are using an '04 Olympus 3.2 MP and it takes wonderful
pictures, adapts to all the electronic data processing, computer
interface, portrait making from the card at photo processing marts.

Does just fine on regular elcheapo batteries.

we've had good luck with the Panasonic LUmix (i think made in Japan not china) well built and easy to use and we've had several Cannons too. Last Cannon is an Elph ###. I don't like the menu but it takes unbelievably clear pictures. I was a replacement for my wifes Cannon 2200 that someone dropped. The Elph has lower Mega Pixels but has some High density thing in it that really makes the pictures crisp, almost film quality (i'm used to high qualtiy film from my old Cannon F1).

Have several sony cybershots, all bought 3-4 year span, 1 for wife, 1 for me, 1 for oldest daughter...... always made sure I got the model that used same rechargeable Sony G type and used same pro stick cards, that way could switch around, battery would take 100 pics between charges. Last time daughter dropped one, went on ebay got same model (used) but in perfect condition with extra battery, 2 cards, manuals, $50.00,,, got enough of em laying around to do for years :)

Have a nikon Ll9. Uses AA. Go to wal-mart's camera department and get a charger and 4 batteries for under $30.

You may even get a better deal on ebay.

Also have an HP camera. Just got two rechargeable batteries on ebay for $6.50 for the pair, including shipping.

I just got a new Canon 3300 about two months ago. I think it was about $125. It uses a rechargeable battery that lasts a looong time and takes great pictures and movies. I'm just amazed at all the technology in such a small and relatively inexpensive package. And it's super easy and intuitive to use. I'd buy it again.
