Kubota D1005 into D750 application?

Seeking opinions if anyone knows. Engine in my 443B Bobcat is getting tired, and a D1005 is up for sale locally. Before I run an hour to look at it, is there any chance (physically) of this working out with relative ease. Relative to me would include welding new mounts, light machine work I can do on my 11" lathe, etc. I know the D750,850,950 were all the same series and easy, but they are getting aged and I can"t easily get one in AK, particularly for the money I can get this D1005 for. Plus another 5-10 hp would not come amiss in this little machine.

Might be a couple inches longer if that. If you have that much room, I bet it will fit. Go to Kubota web site, it may show dimension.

Dave, thanks for the thoughts. I did look at the D1005 spec drawing, unfortunately of course, none for the aged D750 online to compare, and I can measure only grossly in the machine. The 750 is tucked in with pretty much no room to spare end to end. I may well buy the thing regardless and take the chance. It is asking about 1/3 of what a head for the 750 will set me back, so pretty hard to pass up. I'm hoping Kubota never did anything bizzare like change rotation direction. Wish mostly if I could figure if crank flange is anywhere near the same, because flywheel is integrated pulley for the hydraulic pumps in the 443B, and I don't know if I'd have room to make an adapter if required.

Yes it can be done, if fact the D1005 is the engine that is now used in current S70's and was used in late 463. You would have to change the cooling package as the heat rejection of the D1005 is alot larger than either the D722 or D850. In addition just about all of the mounting brackets and drive componets would have to be changed. Can't remember if the tandem pump assy has pressure reliefs in the reverse drive loop (may not even have them in the forward loop) but if it doesnt you should add them. Does this machine have the Eaton 148 series pump or the 160 series pump? If it has the 148's some of the current mounting bracket will not work, but like you said you have a welder. On the plus side you could change the belt tensioner to the Gates tensioner that used on production units and remove that joke of a tensioner that in there now. And with the additional hp you could put on a larger 10GPM Aux pump. If you have a good Bobcat dealer in your area he should be able to help on parts.
