The very first rubber tractor tires pioneered by AC were like those pictured. The design was manufactured for industrial purposes until the 1960s or early 1970s.

I have an identical set on my 1100 hour 1952 8N.

Wouldn't I like to be able to buy a set of those nowadays!

I wonder why the specialty manufacturers like Miller Tire haven't re-issued them?

It is only a guess, but I expect that is the D that dad bought new in 1936. I don't know for sure what tractor it replaced, but his first was a Fordson.

Was glad to spot the treads in this photo as I saw a side view while plowing and and looked like hundreds of lugs around the perimeter of the tire.

Here is the side view. I suppose that is the same tractor but I don't see two uprights.

Did the D come factory equipped with rubber in 1936? I have a 36 but mine has been cut down from steal some where along the way.

I haven't a clue. I think the photos are of two different tractors though both obviously have rubber tires.

I find that most of the credit with the rubber tire offerings on farm tractors goes to Harvey Firestone . His pioneering development was an obsession of his and finally about 1930-1935 he developed tractor specific rubber tires and installed them on his farm tractors of which AC was the general supplier to firestone.The AC U was the first factory installation which predated Firestones developements.The AC installed rubber tires came from Aircraft sizes available in that era..The tires pictured ,in my generation, was commonly called turf tires.Your slang nameing may be different.A Search for "rubber tires on farm tractors" brings up many web sites on the subject.

We have a "35 and a "36 that have factory round spokes on them for rubber.

Interesting picture. Starting about 1930-1934 the AC company re-geared some Model U's with higher road gears capable of running 40-45 mph around a track. There were country tractor races scheduled at State fairs and small towns in the Midwest that had race tracks. This was a marketing deal to promote rubber tired tractors.Difficult to say tread design but your picture may show original design used on these tractors.Barney Oldfield was hired as one of the tractor drivers and he always won. This probably helped AC tractor sales as much or more than the tire company.There are pics of these old tractors on some websites, but I can't determine the tread design from those pics, they are going too fast.

I spent part of a summer cultivating corn for a neighbor with an F-12 Farmall. It had round spoke original wheels with that exact type of tire, which I think was also original. I think it was a 1936 and had a single front wheel which was very rare in that part of Ohio. We also used it on the silo blower.

Geez, don't you young fellers recognize a set of Goodyear's All Weather Ground Grip tractor tires when you see 'em. One of the first tractors I remember ever being around was a 1935 Allis-Chalmers model E with tires like that that my Dad used to run for a neighbor. I remember when plowing sod and hitting a big cow patty the land wheel would slip about a half a turn and that old pinion/bull gear rear end on old Allis would growl pretty loud. My uncle Howard Kesselring's Allis UC had those type of tires on it too when he got it. They also made a tread that was all diamonds, no bar lugs at all. I don't think any of 'em had lugs over an inch high when new, neither did the Firestones with the closed center bar lugs.

found this tractor this fall with these 13x32 inch tires on it have 2 like new 12.75x32 inch tires from another I9 that we have just can't seem to find tubes the pink tractor is a 43 the one that is all painted up is a 45 that now has allstate tires on it that were brand new when we mounted them was told they have not been made for about 50 years
