Google earth stinks. does anyone know any free sights that will allow me to see and identify my tractors from above?

You planning to check out the top optional beaches of Europe? You could park your "Tactor" next to a top secret government facility and then look at it on Wilkileaks.

There is a websight www.bing.com
Just type in the address and zoom in...It works very well, you can make out chairs on my back deck with this. However, the pictures are about 2-3 years old.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Just wanted to check out some property lines and some newly acquired hunting property.

Probably won't find anything free that's better than Google Earth. Pictures would have to be taken from a low flying airplane when the air is unusually clear and still with a very high resolution camera. Try taking pictures of your tractors (or whatever) from about 600 yards away and you'll see what I mean; haze, glare, mirage, etc. makes it very difficult to get hi-res pictures through a couple thousand feet of atmosphere.

Or maybe go fly a kite:

Have you tried google planimeter? You can click on corners and measure the acres...
Think it also depends on the area pics also... some are good enough to make out clay roof shingles before getting blurry...

Our spy satellites will do what you ask. Contact the Pentagon, Washington, DC for further assistance.(;>))

If you want direct access to our top secret spy sat. you could just check Wilkileaks online;. I mentioned that earlier, however.

Thanks Dave i'll try that.we have a problem with a bordering property moving the lines.I'm wondering if i can buy a gps that i can punch in the corner numbers an have it direct me in a straight from corner to corner.give or take a few feet.

While I was on vacation in Italy a few years ago. I went to one of those beaches.
The only topless female I saw looked like a beached whale. lol

Before meeting my wife, while I was in the Navy, if the ship was anchored of the beach the place where the duty section would muster in the afternoon was the big eyes(ships large binoculars next to the bridge). It was very common for most of the beach goers to elect no top on the French and Spanish beaches. To be honest Italian women aren't much to look at anyway. French and Spainish girls were much prettier. When I my ship ported in Sixfors in France, I had a girl take a shine to me. She was quite a looker, also. When the ship left port, she followed it to our next port in Toulunie. When I arrived I felt mighty special that she had driving what had been a two day trip by ship, and she met me with food. You gotta love a beautifull girl that drives that far to feed a man. She did send me a couple of letters after the float, but, I later met my wife, and I have been a faithfull husband.

There is a limit for what they are allowed to show. If you look on Google Streetview you will notice that people's faces and vehicle license plates are 'blurred out'.

While Bing is MUCh more clearer than GE is, its older on my place, like 7 years old. It shows a truck I havent had for 3 years, and my workshop is still there in its old configuration, which was changed about 4 years ago, so I know its at least that old. Go to the nearest town however, it shows the early construction stages of a new plant which was started last year.

I just got a new Garmin Nuvi 1300LM to replace an older unit.

A screen option, "Where Am I" shows the coordinates where you are, and according to the instructions you should be able to enter coordinates and it will direct you to them. If you knew the coordinates, you should be able to find what you want with just the "Where Am I" function.

I haven't tried it yet, but I need to locate the corner of a piece of property that's somewhere in a creek bottom. I should be able to get the coordinates from our County Assessor's office.

A garmin E-trex handheld (hiking) GPS will do that. You just program in a waypoint and it will point you in the direction of it. From a given point, you can define a waypoint as a vector distance from your current location. You may need to do some math do convert distance to another unit of measure, or to figure the heading if you only know the distance north-south and east-west.
