MacFaddens auction photos today

Just came back from MacFaddens. Considerably less snow there then here even though I'm only 20 miles away. I priced a set if 1/2 worn tracks off a 440 Deere while there. He wants $1000 to $1500 for a pair if 1/2 worn. I'm looking for good tracks for my 1010. I can't find new pins and bushings but I'm considering making my own.

Here's what home looked like when we left ..

Quite a bit of desirable stuff- we just don't have auctions like that around here any more.

Thanks for posting.

Should be alot of things there bring decent money. something for everyone !

We had our 440 crawler tracks repinned and bushed but it was maybe 20 years gone by now ? I always thought the guy used aftermarket parts as they weren't like the originals. Did the aftermarket maybe have parts and then drop them in the last so many years ?

For some reason I think I saw a 440 for parts for sale maybe on craigslist Ohio ? unless it was this site ?

Lotta cool stuff there, wouldn't mind having the WF JD 60.

Have you talked to Lavoy on the JD Crawler page about pins and bushings?

Rick

Yes, he can't get them. At least not right now. He does find "old stock" deals now and then. Last year had a few sets that sold fast. I wish I'd bought a set. As I recall, 420, 440, and 1010 all use the same pins and bushing although the tracks themselves differ a little. 1010 has four-bolt pads.

I've been considering making my own pins and bushings from drill rod and DOM tubing. I figure I can make them all for around $500 including the cost of hardening. Just a bit time consuming. Then I've have to pay someone with a track press to install and the price goes up.

Deere sells 350 parts to fit 1010 which requires a lot of new part worth more then the entire crawler.

I don't use my crawler a lot and I figure a 1/2 worn set of used tracks will last longer then I will. I'm just not eager to pay $1000-$1500 for them. A few years ago I bought a pair of tracks from MacFaddens for my Allis Chalmers HD4 for $800 and they were like new. THAT was a bargain.

No more aftermarket support for those pins and bushings. Not from Deere either unless I want to buy pins and bushings one at a time for $20 a piece. No more sets. Deere recommends changing 1010s over to 350 tracks and sprockets for big dollars.

The antique row looks a little shorter than usual. My new knee is coming along well but I know that it is not yet up to five hours of standing around. Some of you other guys will have to pitch in and make sure that Jimmy doesn't let too much stuff go too cheap.

I have often thought about making pins, and bushings myself for my AC Model M. I kind of gave up on the idea, as there is quite a hardening process the parts need to go throung. plus it will take forever to make the parts.Have your pins and bushings been turned? Stan

Don,t know where you are located but I have put it on here before there is a widow lady near me that has a 1010 on almost new bottom. Her husband removed the radiator and hood in prep for painting. Been sitting like that for 3 years. Last time I talk she said make an offer. I am sure $ 1500.00 would get it bought if some scrapper has not picked it up.. Located mid Tenn.

Nope, haven't turned them yet. I was considering turning if I have to. Turning will shorten the tracks but they will snake around as much as before.

If you get oil-hardening rod for pins, and DOM tubing to slice bushings off of, they're pretty hard as-is. For a machine only being used part-time, I suspect they'd work fine without hardening.

Chances are, anybody running worn track parts no longer has hardened parts anyway. That hardening doesn't go very deep.

I'm in Otsego County New York. I'd buy for $1500 if close around here.
