With all the talk about guns and hunting I just want to ask one question. How many have been on the receiving end of the bullet? This is if in the armed forces or hunting or being robed. Please do not drift from a simple yes or no and if yes how. I am not interested in what you think about guns, just wondering if anybody has been shot at.

Lincoln, Nebraska, May 2011. Driving down a residential street minding my own business and got caught in the middle of a gun fight. Most likely a drug deal that went south, considering the neighborhood. I don't think they ever did nab anyone for it. Like I told the lady police Sergeant who took a statement and checked my car for bullet holes, after ten years in the Marine Corps, I'm not one to get upset over a little gunfire, you just don't expect it in Lincoln in the middle of the day.

While hunting with pointers, a man fired at a wild flushing quial. I caught a #7 1/2 in the corner of my right eye socket. It hit the bone and traveled beneath my scalp to stop past my ear. Bird shot might not sound dangerus but a fraction of an inch left the shot would went inside the eye socket causing who knows how much damage or possiably death. Why he din't pass up the shot he was never able to explain.

My dad was. 1959 if memory serves me right. The other hunter claimed he didn't see him when he shot at a deer. Got him in the side. Went in and back out. He was taken to a hospital in the Soo in Da U.P. Long recovery when they finally brought him home. I still remember the smell of the sulpher that my mother had to put in the wound.

kinda i guess when i was a kid ( about 12 ) me & a buddy thought it would be a hoot to stick 303 & shot gun shells in cracks in the barn board and shoot them with a .22 to make them blow
what could go wrong your thinking ?
as i was standing a couple feet from the wall, he shot, cartride exploded & i started leaking
chunk in the head, chunk in the hand
worst part was having to go home & explain to ma who screamed & pop who smacked LOL
no trip to the hospital then , just bandage it up until the leaking stopped
funny, many years later a peice of steel hit me in the head at work they sent me for some kinda scan, doc comes back & says he don"t know how , but looks like there is a chunk of steel in my head ?? jeesus, had to explain the whole thing young guy, asked " you didn"t get it removed ?" guess it"s with me for life ( plus the little chunk still in the back of my right hand LOL damn kids, but like i said, what could go wrong ??

In Army infantry training, the sarge said today you learn how to crawl on your belly with your weapon strapped to your back. The course was 100 yds with barb wire stretched 20 inches above ground every 3 ft. Sarge said DO NOT at anytime for any reason get up before you reach the end of the course or you will get hit. Then sarge said "get down....crawl!!!" At the same time he ordered range officers to start firing continuous gun fire just over our heads all the while you were hugging the ground making your way thru the course. This was 35 yrs ago.

Neighbor hunter missed me about twenty years ago with a 12 ga. slug, sounded like a pizzed off bee coming thru the woods. And I still have a .22 richochet in my thigh from when I was a teenager. And it hasn't slowed down my hunting or shooting sporting clays!

yep, still have a scar from near my knee to near my ankle where they put stuff back together, and little feeling in top my left foot. Buddy and i were out rabbit hunting with our old ss 22's,i had a pocket full of various shells, shorts, long, and long rifles. Started raining and we came in. I wiped down outside of my rifle with a rag, worked the bolt, to make sure it was unloaded (didnt LOOK to see if it was unloaded) and pulled the trigger. Shot myself just below the left knee, and it came out just above my ankle.I found out, For some reason I never understood, that rifle wouldnt eject longs, would work perfectly with shorts or long rifles but not longs. I guess that was the first time i had ever loaded one in it.

Shot at but never hit. We used to come back to base quite often with bullet holes in our helicopter. On one occasion we spent all night fixing holes, replacing rotor blades, and repairing hyd. lines thanks to the 22 holes charlie sent us home with. The military has a wonderful way of brainwashing 19-20 year old kids into thinking there invincible. At that time it was all in a days work.

In a chow hall in Dahran Saudi Arabia 1990, They really shouln't let Air Force Airmen carry M-16s, not pointing the barrel at folks is not a concept the young airman was able to grasp, nor not dropping you friggin weapon. Was about to shoot him with my .38 but they told me that would be conduct unbecoming an officer, wanted to take his clip and de-arm the idoit, they wouldn't let me do that either.

Once in the leg by a kid playing with a 22 while I was mowing lawn when I was 16. Couple of more time while on active duty but never hit. And then on a lake here in MN by some kid playing with a pellet gun who thought it would be funny to scare a couple of guys by pinging pellets off the side of an aluminum boat. Saw him point something, then the splash about 2 feet from the boat.....kid was the one who got scared, ran for his house, ditched the pellet gun and was very surprised when my son and I tied up to their dock, I went and knocked on the door while my son retrieved the pellet gun....his parents were not amused by his actions....and were very glad we didn't involve the cops. 10 year old kid.

Don't forget, they were also setting off explosives in foxholes, in variously places along with you under the wire.

Somebody bought the teenage neighbor kids three 22's when I was growing up. One day a bullet wizzed over our heads while working in the yard finding its way to the upper portion of the house.

It was scary. We called the Sheriff and advised of the situation and asked them to come and take a look and follow-up with appropriate action. The Deputy said we know all about those kids, no need to visit and confirm our story. It had happened with these kids before. The Sheriff came out and talked to the shooters.

It apparently did not do a lot of good as one of the shooters shot his brother in the neck a few weeks later. The boy (now grown) still has the bullet in his body. The parents did take the rifles away from the boys after this incident.

Yep , went in the rear and came out the front , just missed MR WINKY I have walked with a limp ever sense .

Nine bullet holes and a whole bunch of shrapnel. Most metal detectors just go nuts when I go through them. I have not flow since the "new" inspections started. I have two pieces in my back that hurt like heck if they are hit or pushed. Doctor does not want to try to fish them out. Says I might not walk right after the surgery.

Grand kids play tic tack toe on the holes on my leg if I have short pants on.

Got missed by the ak47 rounds but caught a satchell charge in the face. Also in the Ashau. 101st Airborne.1970.
