OT--Somewhat

Lately, I have ordered a few parts for my tractor and equipment. Parts come from Fedx---UPS----USPS.
No notification of items left at my front door! Not even the courtesy of a knock or ring of the bell.
Is there a way to request this?

have your stuff sent insured or delivery confirmation......... If it already is and they don't knock/have you sign, tell them you didn't receive it and let em sweat awhile.......

I complained on here this spring about a substitute driver leaving a package at a door that we don't use and I didn't know how long it had even been there. I was told to shut up and appreciate that it was delivered to me at all.

That said,we had trouble last week with a sub driver again. A shipment of refrigerated vaccines that was shipped overnight didn't get here til about 4 in the afternoon. When he got here it took the driver a good 5 minutes to find them on the truck. Stuff happens when the regular driver is off I guess.

I have found that "delivery confirmation", with USPS, means that you can check with their web site and see if it was delivered????? How much trouble would it be for them to just knock or ring the doorbell, when left at front door??????
Just last week, I had a package delivered that was damaged--had to wait until next day for them to pick up!!!

Yes, you can request different. I have the opposite problem and get ticked off when somebody DOES send me something that I have to sign for.

If I'm not home they won't leave the package when sent like that and it's a big pain in the butt. Not everybody is home all the time to answer the door.

I'd much rather have UPS or FEDEX just leave the stuff at my door. Heck in the Winter when my road is deep in snow, they don't even use my house. They drop off my stuff at a neighbor's half a mile away and leave it on her porch. Usually, but not always UPS give me a phone call and tells me my package is at somebody else's house.

MY delivery people almost always ring the bell when leaving a package regardless of who leaves the package ups, usps or fedex. Its only a few steps from the road, I am at the end of a dead end street. This only began year or so ago, although I think fedex always did ring as far as I can remember.

Yes, it's real simple..
Just put a small sign on the door (or next to it) that says:

FEDEX / UPS / USPS
PLEASE RING BELL WHEN DROPPING OF PACKAGES.

Dave, If I had to sign for it, they would leave a note and I'd have to go to their place after the truck has finished the route to pick up the item. Been there and done that. They are on a mission and have little time to get their job done as it is. I like the idea of leaving it on my front door. My door bell doesn't work, I'm never home, and if I'm in the basement or backside of the house, I'd wouldn't hear then knocking either.

Randy, they did this to me with vapor shipper filled with hi dollar semen, left in side drive out of veiw, sub driver.(Luckly we found it two days later) Our regular drivers leave packages on our porch.

The ups guy dropped a package off tonight and he knocked. However he came to the front door of our old farm house we don't use the front door. I don't understand his logic because there is no side walk or path to the front porch and no light. Our driveway loops around to the back door with a side walk and the porch light was on. ??? But at least he knocked.

Two weeks ago I was expecting a package and the ups guy left it at my neighbors house. My street address number is 2100 and my neighbor is 2101. The ups guy parked right in front of the neighbors yard sign that read 2101.

I can live with stuff left on the porch, but when I order things to shipped by truck, I always have the shipper request a phone call before delivery. Rarely get one and so if it's heavy enough the driver has to leave it on for another day. Call first and I'll be there with a tractor and loader to take it off. Just my opinion.

Last year when our Chesapeke Bay retriever was still alive the UPS driver would pull up next to a vehicle if there was one in the driveway and leave the package in there because he was afraid of the dog. Not that I blame him since he sees more dogs in a day than I do and like everyone says "It's Ok my dog doesn't bite", mine never did, but they all can.

It is always customary to go to the front door, possibly because it must be secure ,no dogs etc. You have to maintain secure access but only to the front door.Well in the burbs anyway.

Interesting topic. I ship quite a few tractor parts out every week and have always wondered which way to do it. Sign or no-sign.
It looks like most of you all prefer no-sign. I'll keep it in mind on future shipments. Sometimes though, dependent on the dollar value of the shipment, the carrier themselves may require a signature upon delivery. Just covering their side of the equation.

Ups out my way will stop and knock on the door. Fedex drives by the driveway several times doing 60 some miles an hour. When they finally see my address on the mailbox by the road they slow down to about 20 and give the package a throw. Sometimes it lands in the driveway but mostly in the ditch. I've been right outside watching them the whole time.

Yes and that is one of the reason I want to see and inspect the package before they leave. Too many times, I have had to contact them for shipping damage---Just makes me think no notification is sometimes on purpose!!

Don't know what your complaigning about. I had a package of parts shipped from Illinois first week of November. Still not here. (USPS) had to wait a month before P O would honor insurance claim. Having to start all over. Tractor still setting outside cause parts were to repair steering and I can't steer it. LOL
