I hope every one can learn from this. It started wed. november 2 at night. Had pain in my center of my chest, lower jaw and down back of my arms. lasted about 3 min. Thought I was coming down with something. Felt fine, went to work the next day. Halfway through the morring had the chest pain, back side of arms, got dizzy and switty. Work called 911. Ride with the lights on. Got the aspern, I-V, and nito on the way. In the emergency room as they took my stuff. Heard the beeeeeep. Saw their eyes get get big as they steped back. Straight to the cath lab. Had complety blocked arttery. Had stent put in. Three day in the hostable. On the nov. 22 had the 2nd stent put in. Started rehab last week wed. I am feeling better. Not back to work yet. If anyone get a sharp pain in your chest don't wait, go to the Dr. Hope no one else has to through this. David

had an almost identical experience, but the pain went on for 4 days before going in (being shoved into the e-room); thought it was indigestion (really)!
needed 4 stents and as the doc said when I came around "I don't like to be melodramatic, but we just saved your life!"

I don't know yet what it was that happened to me 8 years ago. I was milking, reached down to take a milker off and my left hand rolled right up in to a fist and my arm pulled up against my chest. I couldn't straighten it out. The wife was right there milking with me and was doing home health care at the time. She ran up to her truck and got her blood pressure stuff. My pressure was through the roof. She called the boys and my brother to come and finish the milking and took me to the emergency room. I spent the night in ICU hooked to monitors. They had me on the tread mill, did all kinds of tests over the next few days and didn't really find a problem or any damage, never happened again, but the dairy cows were out of here six weeks later.

Glad you caught it and are alright. I hear all too often about guys who didn't make it because they ignored the symptoms and thought they'd be OK if they just forgot about it.

I would like to emphasize what John Diercks said, Heart attack survivors almost always say that they thought it was indigestion!

I have worked many hours in emergency rooms-guys are more likely to report signs and symptoms.

There are differences in how women and men respond to a heart attack. Women are less likely than men to believe they're having a heart attack and more likely to delay in seeking emergency treatment. keep an eye on your wives fella's.

here are some signs to watch out for.

Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts for more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back. The discomfort can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.

Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.

Shortness of breath. Often comes along with chest discomfort. But it also can occur before chest discomfort.

Other symptoms. May include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness.

David, Glad to hear that you're alright. You know that your wife will start trying to make you change to healthy life style now? Let her know that you are bullet proof, or my favorite, Bad reaction to Kyrtonite.

gun guru, I am 51. Don't know what the blood pressure was. Right now it 117 over 65 resting but I am on aspern, effient and metoprolol. weight 197, 5'11" do have some around middle. I work for a GM dear in the shop, so on my feet all day.

Thanks Bob, Wife has no plains to change any thing. She only get lean meats, doesn't cook with salt. We do not eat out. We will see what happens as I go through rehab. I don't what to go this agin. David

5 yrs ago (was 55yrs old then) on memorial day eve we were driving back fron sons home(lives about 150 from here) wife was driving hadnt done anything but visit all day and on the way home got "indigestion" about time got home (11:00 pm). Took some good old baking soda and water (home remedy) to relieve indigestion and went to bed! Couldnt get comfortable thought maybe could relieve the indigestion better sitting up. Wife was watching tv so went in and set with her, soon inside of left arm started hurting! Wife is a nurse-practioner and soon we were on way to hospital. To make already long story short ended up with a stint by 7:30am memorial day, Main artery was 95% blocked they called it the "widow maker"!! No problems before or since!!!!

That Blood pressure is good, but your diet may be bad. A health nut may call you up from the hospital and "change" your diet to rabbit food.
The doctor may put you on Lipitor or another blood thinner.

David glad yer going to be OK. Friend had about the same thing happen 2 months ago. One stint and some recovery time and a major change in his diet.....no more meatarian! And I know there were many times that all he ate was meat or meat and patatos.....now he can have only lean meat and veggies.

Sure am glad all turned out right for you. Glad you will be around for Christmas to see the smiles on the faces of the people around you that will be glad that youre still around as well.

Take care and much good luck.

You know? A couple of weeks ago I went to a junk yard near me to order some more stuff through them because they always do right by me. So the fella that I have been dealing with, works the counter during the day, drives one of the tow trucks during off hours mentions that he has been off a couple of days, so didn't get around to what I was looking for. No big deal, I'm in no hurry. Something I need, just figured would give them first shot at supplying. No big deal. Figuring with the holidays fast approaching, maybe he took some vacation time and asked. Nope. He had a heart attack a couple of days before that and they put a stint in. Just a couple of days before that, and was working with no real time off. I work with guys that pull a muscle and take months off every year. Seriously. One day working, next day on disability for a half year or better, then come back for a couple of months, then on disability for a half year, over and over again, same guys. So, I'm standing there talking to this guy, Kevin, a great guy, and he's working a couple of days after having a heart attack and a stint put in. Says he can't drive a tow truck for a little while, so that hurts financially because cuts down on work time, but there he was working the junk yard just the same. Bless his heart, and the best of luck to him as well.

Mark

You are very lucky to have gotten by with just 2 stents. Last june I had a heart atack and when the like pressure on my chest would not stop went in. Ended up with 5 bypasses as stents were tried and would not work. I understand there are only 6 places that could get blocked so I do not know what ones they had to do but 2 were 99% blocked while the other 3 were over 85% blocked. Was operated on June 8 of this year and in hospital 6 days. Getting better but still a long way to go but think I will have problems the rest of my days. When I went in I never even consered it was a heart attack. I am 68
