O/T More on Roadkill: Dinner Anyone?

Was reading the earlier post about roadkill, coyotes, etc. Here's a song about it. If you're a banjo picker, you'll appreciate it. Here in the south, roadkill means dinner. Sure, it's tractor related. It's just as easy to run over a possum with a tractor.

Wife came home one late one nite from her afternoon shift at the health care facility - said she hit TWO possums. Asked her if it was a particularly bad nite at work. So now around here, a "TWO POSSUM NITE" was one mean night!

I was raised in N. Idaho (Bonners Ferry) near the Canadian border. Joined USN and got sent South to NAS Cecil Field, FL (Jax area).

Before I arrived here had a stop off in Memphis for Avionics School. This is where I got my first introduction to "Southern Cookin". Was invited to dinner by young couple from Thomasville, GA to have a Southern delicacy.

Got there and house smelled GREAT!!! Long time since had a good home cooked supper. Time passed and brews were downed. Wife called us to supper and I just had to ask what it she cooked. She told me is racoon - needless to say I was very gracious but excused myself from supper. No way was I eating that!!

Still living here in the South and still not hungry enough to eat possum or coon :)
