Was welding on skidloader bucket today, after the small welding job (3minutes) it refused to start. Seems to be electrial issue, no starter clicking or anything. Skidloader is brand new (10 hours) What did I fry on it? I know I should have discounted battery, but didn"t. Any suggetions?

If this is a new skidsteer go to your manual and look for the electrical diagram and go from there. You didn't mention make , model ,or size.
How can WE help? ggp

What type of SSL is it? I bet a new nickel that there is at least one warning sticker on it telling you not to weld on it :)

Watched a guy changing a battery in a 644 Deere wheel loader and one good arc to the frame from the wrench fried the engine, transmission and flex load controllers. A costly mistake to say the least.

I just got to asked. Why in the world where you welding on a new skid steer bucket with it still on the skid steer??????? It is so easy to detach a bucket these days I would never weld one still on the skid steer.

Just about all of the engines/machines today have computers on them. DO NOT WELD on them with the batteries still hooked up. You can have a voltage spike or a ground issue fry the computers/controllers.

First time I saw this happen was in 1995 on John Deere 8100. The owner wanted to extent the front fender brackets. I had told him to take them off and bring them is and we would do it for him free of charge. No he had to try to do it himself. 1) He could not weld for crap. 2) He had a cheap imported AC buss box welder. 3) He was too lazy to take them off so he welded them on the tractor. He fried the Engine module and the power shift controller. In 1995 these two parts cost him just under $3000. NO warranty on any of the rest of the electrical system too. JD clearly states that if you weld on these newer machine without unhooking the batteries you void the warranty.
