Dodge nitro 2.8 diesel (manual 6 speed)

Thinking about buying one of these to replace my Mitsubishi 2.5 diesel. Nitro is a 59 model with approximately 9.5 k on the clock. If I go ahead I hope to get it chipped, should take power from around 170 bhp to about 210 and give loads more torque. The only real issue I am concerned about is I am not sure how reliable they are and how difficult it may be getting spares over here in Scotland. Am I correct in saying you guys have the Nitro but not the 2.8 diesel model. Has anyone any experience of the model?
Thanks
Bill

I think the Nitro was introduced over here only about 5 years ago? I've never heard of or seen a diesel in one of those.

Yea, not offered here. Diesels not popular here,,,, i like them but they offer few. Starting to see a few more, VW Pasat came last 2 years, 70 mpg is starting to get some attention. BMW has one also, and it is catching on.

Other wise we only have heavy trucks, 1 ton and higher.

Dodge sells a SUV type small car called the NITRO.As far as I know it is offered as a gasoline fueled only vehicle.About the size of a American made Jeep Cherokee.Doesn't get high reviews from people who are paid for such, such as Edmonds etc.Picture is of the 2011 model Nitro.

As far as parts go, they should be available. Not like that thing is the only Nitro over there, given that it has a diesel. Unheard of over here, EPA makes sure there's no fuel efficent vehicles on the market.

There are several models from Ford, GM, Chrysler built for outside Canada and U.S. that are not available here. In Brazil, there is a Dodge Durango Diesel for instance.
The diesel pickups are on 3/4 ton and up, not 1 Ton as stated in another post.
Really would like to drive a Subaru Diesel, it has been built for several years and has 50% better mileage than the gasoline version. Cannot be sold in the U.S. without Urea system that is licensed by BMW or Audi, not sure which. But Subaru says 'not in the foreseeable future'.

our nitro models also share the jeep floor mat and some body parts,,jeep has the diesel in it, called a CRD,,, but i would like to see a diesel in a nitro, i like the looks of the nitro than the jeep,, C.E.O.'s in u.s. thinks we don't know enough about diesel cars,,show you how much they know,,,[ build them and they will come],lol...send us some pic of your version of the nitro with the diesel in it if able...thanks, bob

Aside from being ugly as a mud fence in a rainstorm..... You'll be paying higher prices for repair parts which will be unavoidable..... Take a look at the Kia Sorento with the 2.5 diesel. 140 HP but you shouldn't need much more. Don't know about the chip thing...... Wife has a 2006 and it zooms right along and pulls a 3.5 ton trailer real nice...... Repair parts aren't real expensive and they don't seem to need much repairing......

Bill, you could also consider the Mitsubishi Outlander as a replacement for your Mitsubishi pick up.Comes as a 2.4 litre four cylinder and 3.0 litre V6 or as a 2.2 diesel in the Citroen C Crosser/ Peugeot 4007. TSG.
