Good Customer Service-For a Change

John Deere "G" starter got weak and would stop.
Called a repair shop mentioned by a club member, said he could fix it promptly. Took the armature to him. It had three segments pitted and eroded.
He took a look at it, told me the reason the segments were eroded was that the solder connections from the armature windings were loose and not properly soldered. He said he could re-solder the armature, turn it on the lathe and it would be good as new. Went back to the shop in an hour and it was ready to go. Price: $10.00 That starter really runs now. I was surprised and pleased with the service and the price.

Always good to hear from someone who has gotten good service. Here in Branch County, MI the best starter, generator, alternator guy is Chris at Thatchers Auto Electric in Coldwater. I've had him fix a lot of stuff over a long time and recommend him wholeheatedly, if anyone in our area needs that kind of work.

Well you had better hang on to that shop. People like him and me are getting hard to find. Have a shop like that down here. Sometimes you spend more time waiting in line than the repair takes. Always good work and a fair price. The guy is always covered up.

So lets all support these shops, give them a tip, buy them lunch, pay more than the asking price, these are good people, and should be treated as such.

There is local shop in this area that I use. last week the bendix on my N/H 1715 broke N/H dealer wanted over $400 for a new starter took starter to the shop. They had to order new bendix assembly, total cost $65. Sure beats $400. Last year had new bearings put in alternator on PU cost $25. Is the only small repair shop left in this area.

We get very good service from a local shop, Eubanks Exchange, in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

Take all starters and generators there to be checked out and/or repaired if necessary on all tractors and trucks.

They always try to repair rather than replace what you have which is very helpful on all our "old" tractors.

The owner also likes to "talk" John Deere tractors since his father owned the local dealership back in the old days.

He also recommended another local old fellow that rebuilds magnetos for tractors and welding machines.

Good customer service goes a long, long way with keeping my repeat business.
