Farmall oil change

I recently inherited a 1949 Farmall Super A and a 1965 Farmall 504. I've never owned a Farmall and neither have had their engine oil changed in over a year(s). I already ordered oil filters but what type of oil should I purchase ?

According to the "EXPERTS", you better get Case Ih Low Ash oil from the dealer, otherwise youll end up with a V notched out in one of the valves!!!

As suggested already, Rotella 15-40. We have been running it for years in everything we farmed with. (Although Id be willing to bet it wasnt always Rotella)

I pretty much agree with RayP(MI) below.

10W-30 has always worked for me in my Super C, Super H and Super M. 15-40 won"t hurt.

If you change your own oil in your car I'd say use that. No sense keeping more than one oil on hand to confuse things. Any modern oil is way better than what they had in the old days.

If the bottle says "engine oil" and the contents are original to the packaging, it'll be just fine.

Oil is a personal preference. In the grand scheme it doesn't make a hill of beans' difference what you use when the tractor just sits 99% of the time, and isn't worked hard when it is being used.
