Making the chore loop this morning and saw two guys walking thru the orchards with a pruning pole cutting mistletoe. Didn't recognize them so asked who they were and if they asked the owners. Of course, they did  so I said have fun and went on. Finished what I was doing and came back to find them on one of my pastures... Asked them again if they had asked the owner..... They did of course... but just so happened to be on our property at the time. Confronted them and they said that the people were all old and didn't know what they had anyway and that they didn't even pick up their apples.Told them that the important thing was it was their stuff to do or not do whatever they wanted with it, but these two were stealing. Didn't even phase them and they just kept looking in the trees like I wasn't even there......... Saw where they were going next and went to the owner. He called the cops and went after them... Bout 10 minutes later, cops come zooming thru town and headed out about 20 minutes later with those two guys in the back seat.....
Guess they didn't buy into their logic........

People just dont seem to respect anyones property anymore. I have problems around the farm like that with hunters. Im a hunter myself but these people come in from town and just think its ok to be there wihtout asking and then when you catch them there they act like your on there land. Sounds like they got what they deserved in your case. I usually give them one warning dependin on how nasty they are but tell them if I catch them again Ill call the sheriff.

Friend of mine found some guys putting up a deer stand. In his back pasture. Told him that they were good friends of the owner. He told them I am the owner and don't know you. So you have five minutes to leave. Before I make a call. He did get a real nice stand out of the deal.

A west Texas rancher drove over to check out some rifle shots. Two fellers were shooting at the revolving blades of a wind mill. Rancher calmly inquired about make, calibar so forth and asked if he could try the rifle. Shooter filled the clip and handed to the rancher who promptly emptied it into thier truck. They said they thought wind mills became obsolete when the government put running water in all over the nation. According to thier reasoning, restored tractors are obsolete and should be shot.

I have watched it grow worse year after year. I have the good fortune (or bad) to have a rather large farm that is joined on 3 sides by a National Wildlife refuge. We also farm part of the refuge. Just cannot keep people off, in the fall deer hunting and in the spring turkey hunters. Used to try and be nice now days at my age first thing I do is call the law. We do not have a lof of theft problems but the hunters are something else.

Around here, our problem is hunters. Virtually every scrap of ground is posted "No Hunting". But it doesn't seem to matter. They ignore the postings anyway.

my neighbor to the east of me get a real nice extension ladder out of a deal like that some one put a deer stand in one of their trees and left the ladder.
her husband said i guess they didn't need the ladder so now it's mine.
no one called to ask if Bob knew about the ladder either
