Ferguson head gasket

few weeks back I started my TO20 and water vapor fog was rolling out of the exhaust pipe. First time for that. But the head gasket has always oozed oil. This time I could see green antifreeze too. I simply tightened the head nuts all around, warmed it up, and tightened some more. All fixed. So, will it last? Future problems?

Maybe is the best I can say. How long had the gasket been in the tractor? Were the head bolts undertorqued before you tightened them? If it's been installed some time ago the fix may not be long lived. I would not do any more unless it starts leaking again, but if it does you need to check the head and the head bolts thoroughly before installing another gasket. Good luck.

retorquing a hg is always the first step.

make sure no water gets in the oil.. the coolant will wipe out bearings.

past that.. if you aren't loosing water or oil.. and none mixing.. it will last till it goes.. :)
