HAve paid all my 2012 land rent, usually try to do by the fall property tax due date. I am now writing checks for market bonus's for the landlords and was wondering if the bonus's can be expensed same as rent, or something else? Bonus's are not part of any agreement, just a thank you since I have very good landlords.

Still call it rent and deduct it.

I do.

I believe Christmas bonus checks are taxable for the employee and deductible for the employer.

That is the way my employer handled it. And so does our coop when they bonus's to the employees

Yes, bonuses can be counted as rental expense. Just make sure you get documentation from the landlord such as a receipt.
