I think they know how to play me

Just came in from checking a few heifers and the 2 labs, one age 17 and the other age 11 came up to the porch as I was walking in the house. Yep, could'nt resist those eyes on a cold night. They are snoring pretty happily under the kitchen table now.

My wife is like that. She is always trying to think of an excuse to let her purse pooch and two cats in the house. I tell her that she is lucky that I let the children come in. The boy who is now 20, is getting to the point where I'm about to let him go sleep out in the barn, but, that's a different story. I'm like how do dogs and cats survive in the wild? I grew up in New Hampshire, where it gets far colder than it does here in Tennessee, and we kept the dogs and cats outside. I even like one of the cats, yet, if she gets use to being indoors, she'll get soft, like the kids. While I'm thinking about this, I really need to start putting the kids outside at night. Maybe they can start appreciating being indoors a little.

A kitten got me. Found it under my truck one morning. Told my self just take it in for one day.Been about a month now. It has food and water bowls, toys and a litter box.Sure hope her friends don't show up.

I suppose you eat raw eggs with your hardtack. There is nothing wrong with having a little compassion in the world, my life is hard enough without taking my anger out on the 17 year old dog.

I made that mistake with an overly friendly cat when I went out the door one cold morning last week. When I came in,she was sitting in my kitchen chair and there was a smelly surprise in front of the door. If she wants to be petted and rub on my leg, fine and dandy, but from now on,she does it outdoors.

You"re right Erik. I just this year had to have my 15 year old buddy put down.About broke our heart. We got her at 6 weeks and she was a constant friend all these years but infirmitys made her life very painful. We still think of her and some times I think I see her struggling to walk across the yard. Our friend Taffy on her 15th Birthday 4/10/2011.
