OT Baby Wall

Was assigned this short wall this morning! By 10:30 I had it framed. Note the pipe on the left-I installed a 1" pipe flange in the track, then threaded in the 1" x 30" pipe so I can give the unsupported end some hidden strength! After the pipe is in, I plumb the wall and install another cripple stud which gets screwed to the pipe. Pictures are from my phone, sorry for the glare!

By 12:30 I had it rocked, beaded, and first coat of mud

By 3:30 I had a second coat of mud drying over the weekend! This will get a 10" wide laminated top when it is all done.

Looks good! What time did you start though?!?!

How do you like metal studs? I find it funny most people with no experience with metal studs think they are terrible, while people who use them everyday hate wood.

My day started at 7, but we could not get into this office until 8:45! I don't mind metal studs, less mess to cut, no cord needed, but I am a trim carpenter, so would MUCH rather be using wood! More accuracy required with wood!
