Hey Kirk,
Can't remember just where you're located other than it wasn't far from Gettysburg. How far are you from Waynesboro, Rouzerville, and Carroll Valley??? Got a buddy going to work at the Raven Mountain Complex in a couple of weeks and will be looking to rent a place. Just wondering how much trouble he'll have finding something without isolating his wife from society

Just wondering.

waynesboro. Shouldn't be much trouble finding something in
that area or just across line in md. Won't have to be very
isolated as waynesboro is about 20 min to chambersburg,
Hagerstown, or Frederick, md.
 
I had to look it up, to the locals it is known as "Site R" not Raven Rock. I am about 7 miles East of Gettysburg so the Site is ~20 miles from me. Drive by it pretty regularly, if you couldn"t see the antennas you probably would never know it was there. Pretty isolated, remote, etc.

Can"t really speak to rental availability, but Rouzerville is pretty small, Carroll Valley is something of a resort community with golf courses and ski hill. Site is probably as close to Gettysburg as Waynesboro. G"burg is a tourist town, but nice place to live. Can"t really talk about Waynesboro. Not sure how close they need to be to work, but my in-laws have some pretty nice rental places in Hanover, PA (~15 miles) and larger cities of Harrisburg, PA and Frederick, MD are relatively close (20-30 miles) North and South on US-15.

Forgot about Hagerstown, MD as 53 states that is commutable as well. Pretty much anything around here they might want, mostly depends on what they are looking for.

If you want to email me their contact info and the area, I'll pass it on. or if they have something on the net. Distance is not a big issue. we are used to living in one place and chasing jobs. He's driving about 100 miles RT the last 3 years or so daily. Don't think he'll be looking to buy cause they own a nice place here and their kids are here. MD is out because they'll tax his military retirement...

Wasn't thinking about the tax implications of residence, but you/they are correct on that fact. We see quite a few retired transplants from MD on that basis alone.

are you on Rt 30? I may know about where you live. I sometimes make a trip to my BIL in Abbotstown. he is retired from Finches inc. Hanover. now does equipment maintenance P/T at the shoe farm.

To answer Dave's question lots of Historic buildings out that way. Towns laid out nicely.
Road conditions are much smoother than the west side of Pa, Flatter ground for travel. Abbotstown is about 45 min from Baltimore. so if looking for side jobs
That area has higher paying scales.

Know all those places you mention in my stomping ground so to speak. I am about 4 miles South of US30 between Gettysburg and New Oxford.

Yep I'll look ya up next time out really interested in your music capabilities of recording . Niece and Nephew live in New Oxford beside a trucking terminal or maybe just a warehouse --- small world ( Grin ) Just wouldn't be so many miles If I didn't have to climb all the mountains. But my choice is Rt 30 from Breezwood,less time, and cheaper than the big road. I got your email so I'll get a number off ya later.
