Cold is a relative thing ya know....

At 65 degrees, Arizonans turn on the heat. People in Minnesota plant gardens.
At 60, Californians shiver uncontrollably. People in Minnesota sunbathe.
At 50, Italian & English cars won't start. People in Minnesota drive with the windows down.
At 40, Georgians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats. People in Minnesota throw on a flannel shirt.
At 35, New York landlords finally turn up the heat. People in Minnesota have the last cookout before it gets cold.
At 20, People in Miami all die. Minnesotans close their windows.
At 0, Californians fly away to Mexico . People in Minnesota get out their winter coats.
At 10 below zero, Hollywood disintegrates. The Girl Scouts in Minnesota are selling cookies door to door.
At 20 below, Washington DC runs out of hot air. (Ya think? Nah.). People in Minnesota let their dogs sleep indoors.
At 30 below, Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Minnesotans get upset because they can't start the snowmobile.
At 40 below, ALL atomic motion stops. People in Minnesota start saying..."Cold enough for ya, eh?"
At 50 below, hell freezes over. Minnesota public schools will open 2 hours late

Brother use to live in Minnesota They said there wasn't much difference between -30 and-40 below. It just cold.

Growing up in northern NH we never lost a school day to snow but we did once to cold. In fact it was three days because it went down below -40 each night, and they couldn't get the buses started or get the school building heated above 50*. My friend and I still went snowmobiling though.

A few years ago when I was harvesting in Saskatchewan the farmers there thought we Iowans lived in the tropics because we were 800 miles south of them. Then we told them we have seen minus 30-35 on occasion. They thought we were liars. Then one of them came to see us in January and he found out the truth. They still get colder than we do but the difference between their winter temps and our northern Iowa temps isn't all that much. Jim

Yeah sure, you betcha! We used to live in MN and that pretty accurately reflects what Minnesotans think of the temperature.

(quoted from post at 14:06:40 11/16/11) and the very last thing at 50 below (when Hell freezer over) the vikings win the super boul.

LOL not this year......more like it will freeze over when the vikes win a game!!!!! ROFL!

First day this year here in west central MN when the temp did not get above freezing.

I live in Northern British Columbia, on the Alaska Highway. A couple of years ago a bunch of us went hunting buffalo (they still roam wild here, and you can get a limited entry draw for a buffalo tag) around Christmas time. We strung tarps around some trees and set up camp. We stayed out for 5 days, and our snowmachines all started every day (although they weren't happy about it). It was -48C (that's -54F) most of those mornings. I'd be ok if I never saw cold ever again after that...

And I've camped in tents at colder temps.

When I retire, I'm leaving this place...

Bye for now,

They actually feel the same, the only difference is that you'll die a little sooner.
