Has anyone mounted 14.9x38 on 11" rims and had them look OK? I have a MH 44 that had old size 13x38 tires on it. The new size crosses over to a 14.9x38.

Thanks,

Did it look ok with the old tires on it?the new ones will look similar.they may be pulled in a little, but thats ok.99% of people will not notice.Ever thought about 13.6x38?

I think these are 11" rims, or maybe 10". The tires are 14.9/38. I like them, but they are rather large for some people.

They just don't look good, I know the money and time your putting in your tractor, I would find a set of 12 inch or use 13.6x 38's. I just finished a 44 special last spring, a two year project that had the factory cast iron wheels with 11 inch rims, it had a brand new set of Firestones on it when I bought it, I sandblasted and painted the wheels and had the tires back on the first winter while I did the engine and body work and paint the second winter. I kept looking at those tires all winter and they were round as balls on top, I just couldn't stand it, I found a set of cast center 6 rail spin outs from a 444 with 12 inch rims and there on there right now and look great. It also depends on what brand of tire you will use, Firestones have a wide midsection and narrow lug bars, I have a 444 with Titans on the same wheels and they even fit better. Just my $.02.

I have 2 tractors with 11" rims. One is a Farmall H which I would like to go with 13.6 and the other is a MH 44, which I would like to go with 14.9. I have done a lot of upgrades to the 44 engine and do not think 13.6 is enough tire.

Thanks,

My M had 14.9s on 11" rims when I bought it. Other than the fact those tires had no tread but did have severe cracks, they did look good. If you guys will do your homework, you will find the 14.9 was intended to be used as a replacement for the 13.6, will fit on the same rim, but will provide slightly more traction due to the wider footprint.

What you have, the 14.9 is the exact same size tire as the 13 that you have now, just a different way of measuring so if one worked the other will as well. the 13.6 is the old size 12 and to many people confuse a 13 with a 13.6 thinking they are the same size and they are not, the 13 being an inch larger than the 13.6.
