Not to pick on you, bob, but PT109, was jfk, right? I noted, with some interest, a time, a dew years ago, when history channel, or maybe it was national geographic, wanted to take the underwater film crew down to the wreck of the PT109 boat, somehow the kennedy family put the kybosh, on that project. I wonder what they are hiding? Anyway, I just got done watching Darby's Rangers, on TCM, good movie.

Whoever made that silly picture was apparently unaware that all three of the Duke's wives spoke Spanish as their native tongue.

To Hell and Back, Sgt. York, Saving Private Ryan, Jarhead, Patton, Full Metal Jacket, Letters From Iwo Jima, In Harms Way, The Green Berets. Sorry but couldn't narrow it down any further. Also... does Hot Shots count?

It was Robert Ballard and National Geographic who found PT-109. I'd say the fact that the wreck lies 1200 feet underwater is the reason they didn't send a film crew down. They sent ROVs instead.

Thanks Bob, For sure, this is America and ENGLISH is our language. If a persons wishes to learn another language more power to them but if people wish to legally immigrate Id suggest they learn the language of the country they choose to move to in order to better themselves. In other Countries I sort of doubt they have to press 1 for their native language. Political Correctness run amok lol Oh well I'm gonna continue speaking English in America even if the extreme left doesnt like it, they can speak whatever they please to make them feel all warm n fuzzy and more caring. I just dont do the Press 1 thing in order to speak my countrys native language, if the company or person Im dealing with cant handle that, its their own problem sure not mine.....................

God Bless America John T

Of all the military based movies I"ve seen in my life I really like Sgt. York and best of all.Full Metal Jacket ,In Harms Way,Patton, and any movie about Rommel, the Desert Fox,especially the one where James Mason portrays Rommel,I can"t remember the Movies name. Changing the era and scene some,Patriot with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger is high on my list along with Last of the Mohicans. They have not made a good Civil War Movie yet in my opinion. There was nothing good about that war, except for the fact that my GGGrand Father survived it.10 of my relatives of that era fought thru the war,8 to save the Union in the 10th.Kentucky Mounted Calvary,2 for the confederatcy. I think they all were able to come home except for Ed Harmon, to much hostility towards the rebels. It continues to this day with hostility between families.Picture is of Ed Harmon who became an officer in the Army of Virginia. He was a cousin to my GGGrand Father.Sad.

I had 3 Drill Instructors who were carbon copies of Gunny Ermy. But at platoon graduation we all shook hands and got teary eyed over the fact we were done with each other.

The older I get, the less I enjoy any movie that somehow 'glorifies' war. I would recommend "Paths of Glory".

I was stationed at Ft. Bragg in SF training when some of the movie, The Green Berets, was shot at Bragg. I think the jungle scenes were shot in Thailand, but you can tell which by looking at the trees and foliage in the background. My HS buddy, an Army lieutenant, thought the "Skyhook" extraction was BS. It was operational- I saw it done numerous times. Anytime we saw a C130 with the Y hook on the nose, we knew there was another plucking from the ground in the works. It"s sort of like a reverse bungee jump!

Though calling Casablanca a war movie might be a bit of a stretch, it is a true classic and one of the very best movies of all time.

Bogie made a lot of war movies where he played a civilian. The African Queen is probably my favorite.

If you know how to search, youtube has some really good old war movies. For example "Stalag 17" and "Go for Broke".

There is extensive combat footage of the Normandy assault. World War II (The Big One) was, up to that point, the most photographed war in history. The combat footage makes Private Ryan look tame.

Archival material taken during the first World War showing battlefields from air.. first aerial photography. This is real not imaginary.
