how to identify model and year

I have a Massey tractor in a barn that came with the property.7
It must be of 1950-1960 vintage.
How do I identify the tractor model and year?

well if it's from the later half of the 50's it'll say "Massey Ferguson" on the side. If it's from the early part "Massey Harris". What color is it, what is the serial number? are there any numbers on it like 33 or 44 or 35? How big is it? How many gears? Row crop or utility? Does it have 3point hitch? If you post a picture I'm sure someone here could tell you what it is. All of the above questions can help you narrow down what is is.

If it is a Massey Harris the serial # is located on plate on the left side of main frame and stamped on frame on top of transmission cover. On Massey Ferguson most are stamped on instrument panel. I suppose there are some in different places, but look in these places first.

Here is an article we wrote a few years back on how to ID Ferguson tractors. It has several pictures.

Later models (mid 1960's) will have a disk with the model number on the hood (either side)

If this does not help and/or you cannot post a picture try to look at some of the photo's posted here in the gallery section to the left.
