VETERAN'S DAY IDEA!

Just kinda thought.

Let's all get together and take a VETERAN and/or wife out to lunch or supper for thier SERVICE.

Better than buying a lottey ticket on 11/11/11!

Many restaurants will give a vet a free lunch but what I think is bad is he can go eat but his wife has to pay. Oh well. My nephews school has a program going on tomorrow for the vets in this area and I have been asked to attend as has a friend of mine

we have Altus air base nearby and I buy lunch at least once a week for whatever group of airmen are around when I go to lunch. I don't let them know who did it, just try to make their day evry once in awhile. Don't need a holiday- just give it a try sometimes. I've ridden in alot of their planes years ago and appreciate what they do.

be sure and relay your concerns on the subject, along with your EXPERT opinions on todays military and how screwed up it is to the school kids. And don't forget to tellim how the government fails to take care of you afterwards.......... And tellim which restaurants they should boycot....

Kruser,
that's a good idea...... May wanna avoid hooters tho

Elmer I've done the same as you several times. I'd go to lunch at the Flying J truckstop which is right across I-20 from Dyess AFB. A bunch of airmen would come in for lunch and I picked up the tab anonmously.

Like a couple of others have posted, on several occasions I have anonamously paid for veterans meal. Often I get a pleasant surprise when I am informed that someone else has beat me to it.

I'm not sure how many you will find available to take out--if you live near a larger city. There are several restaurants that offer certain free meals to veterans on Veteran's Day.

I prefer Applebees. In the running this year is Hooters since I've never been to one and am curious. I would however have to drive to Wichita. Do I need a road trip there for something?

Along similar lines----Sam's Club is offering a free cane to veterans that need them, with a limited supply at each store, 60,000 nationwide. Need not be a Sam's member to receive one.

I do plan to take a veteran to lunch---myself. Great idea.

Grandson's school is having a Veterans Assembly this morning- they have each vet stand and give branch of service, your outfit (if you can remember-LOL), and years of service. The kids love it.

My dad and I used to go when my son was in the same school, now Dad is gone and I'm going for grandson. Time marches on.

I'll be celebrating the actual day by getting arthroscopic surgery on my knee- anterior cruciate. Lots of fun.

Tx Roadhouse offer.

All Veterans and active Military personell are to be the guests of Applebees for lunch on Friday,Nov. 11,2011. I think guests have to pay their own way this day.Bring your ID!

Ya my nephews school had one this morning just got back from going to it and doing a bunch of running around in town. All the vets where given thank you card made by the children of the school

A friend and I who have lunch once a week tried that a couple years ago (we're both vets)- line looked about an hour long. No thanks.

Who cares about the discount - It's the thought that counts!

ALL GAVE SOME AND SOME GAVE ALL
