ford alternator on wd allis chalmers

Probably not the easiest conversion but I did 3 of them. Mainly because I had parted out many Fords and had all the stuff handy.
All you do is wire it exactly the way it was originally wired in the Ford, including using that little "pink" resistor wire.
Follow the diagragm in any Ford manual.
Its been a few years now but as I recall, the wide pulley off the WD"s generator bolted right on to the alternator in place of the original narrow one.
You have to make a mounting bracket which is really easy if you have a welder. I think I had to make an offset adjustment arm to line up with the alternator adjusting boss as well.
I used the Ford ignition switch and a solenoid so it starts with the key.
My WD was the first one I did and its still working perfect after 14 years or so.
Well worth the effort IMHO.
