as a country music fan, I thought I'd try a bit of trivia. Maybe trivia isn't the right word, but I'm one who has more interests than just antique tractors.

Can you name the country singer who made the following tunes popular?

Snow Flake
Wishful Thinking
You're For Me
I Still Miss Someone
I'll Be There If You Ever Want Me
Red Headed Stranger
The Great Speckled Bird
Just A Little Lovin'
I Heard The Bluebirds Sing
You Gotta Have A License
I Made The Prison Band
Sink The Bismarck

Did you know that if you play country records backwards you get your truck back, you get your dog back and you get your girl back.

I think you have multiple singers there, instead of one singer for all of those songs.

For instance Snow Flake. Wasn't that a Sonny James song?

Dolly Partin, (and several others) sang I Still Miss Someone.

Red Headed Stranger was Willie.

Great Speckled Bird was Roy Acuff.

Gotta Have A License was George Jones.

I Made The Prison Band was Merle Haggard.

Sink The Bismark was Johnny Horton.

Don't know who sang the others.

Good quiz.

Don't ask me anything about the current crop of "country" artists.

Paul

Now I'm thinking Snow Flake might have been a Lefty Frizzell hit. Probably wrong on that one. . .

More Trivia:

Both Jim Reeves and Johnny Horton were born and raised in my neck of the woods, and they are buried within 30 miles of each other. Reeves is from the same little east Texas town as Tex Ritter.

I had the good fortune to meet Horton back in the late 50s, early 60s, just before he was killed in a car wreck. At the end of his show, he borrowed my pen to sign autographs. The thing leaked and his hand was purple by the time he was done. Very nice guy. My two favorites were "Whispering Pines" and "All for the Love of a Girl".

Other local boys that did well were Claude King, Kix Brooks, Nat Stuckey, Hank Jr., Red Sovine, James Burton (guitar player for Elvis, among others) Marty Haggard, Leadbelly and a few others I can't recall at the moment. Elvis, though not a native, got his start here.

I live about a mile from Claude King, and about three miles from Burton.

I'm sorry, I wrote my entry wrong. I did mean a different singer for each song listed. Bummer!!!

In order they are:
Jim Reeves
Wynn Stewart
Buck Owens
Johnny Cash
Ray Price
Willie Nelson
Roy Acuff
Eddy Arnold
The Browns (Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie)
Tommy Collins
Merle Haggard
Johnny Horton

Several correct answers. Again my apology for not stating my original intent very clearly.

Your untitled URL link doesn't work for me. I have trouble with my computer on those sometimes.

Thats what I thought you meant. I did not think one artist had done all those songs.I only got about two of them. The Hag and the Man in Black. Give us another one.

Marvin Rainwater did sing about one bluebird - Gonna Find Me a Bluebird, Let Him Sing Me a Song, etc.

The Browns sang about a flock of bluebirds.
