IH #80 snow blower ?

A friend blew a LOT of snow with his, don't think he had much trouble. I horse-traded for it when he got a B-I-G unit, but I haven't used it yet. I am going to look up parts availability for and prices for the gearbox parts "just in case"!

Another guy in the neighborhood has one, his Dad bought it new "back in the day" and he still uses it, so I'd ASSUME they are a fairly good machine.

Do they throw the snow a good distance? I have a JD 676, throws the snow a good distance, but is too narrow for my tractor tire width. Have seen a few brands out threre when used that barely toss the snow more than 10-15 ft.

Dave,I'am not up on the IH no.,but if it is what I think it is,then the JD & IH came out of the same factory.McKee Mfg.in Canada. But as far as I know McKee is no longer,so parts for either one is ??.

Bearings and seals are available for it and that is about it. Shafts are NLA for the gearbox, gearbox case is NLA. I have a 70. Smaller brother of the 80. Good blower.
