Bought a vehicle battery lately?

I just got back from the Farmers Co-Op in Columbia, TN where I bought a new battery for my 1973 Ford 2000 tractor.

Before I left home I told my wife that would probably be a little over $100.00 for the battery. It was $148.99! It's an Agri Force brand which I assume is a specialty brand for farm stores.

By the way, that's without any sales tax since I have an agricultural sales tax exemption permit.

All the way home I kept telling myself that I was grateful to the Lord that He had made it possible for me to have enough money for me to pay that price, but I'm still having a little bit of a hard time convincing myself.

Tom they have gone up dramatically in the past couple of months. Battery for a customeers Ford Taurus, not put in $189.50.

That's about what I paid for one at the start of the summer.Things are getting pricey quickly these days.

They charge you an 18 dollar core charge if you don't have a battery to trade in around here.I bought a new generator that needed a battery,it was still 18 bucks extra.I had a couple old batteries around, but they said it had to be the same size as the new one i bought.I've has tractor batteries that only lasted a couple years.

I know what your talking about as for as prices. I just put two new StrongBox batteries in my 4320 about a month ago, $158 each.

Wow you guys are making me feel like I got a bargain a few weeks back when I bought a 1000cca tractor battery for my 610DT. I sent the wife after it and it was just under $100 and I thought that was spendy, but now I don't feel so bad, lol.........

I bought a new battery last winter, It was $95 and they charged it for 7 hours first. I bought it from the Deere dealer that I bought the tractor from.

I bought a Toyota battery installed at the dealer for $149 with an 8 year warranty. Full repalcement at 24 months. I thought that it would be more.

got one (80 AH) a couple weeks ago at the local dealer for about $105 (19% sales tax included)... Some things are priced close I guess.....

thats crock it has to be same type/size battery. EPA sets regs, not retailers. Take them one of the old batteries say epa regs didn't say it had to be same battery, just a used battery to dispose of per EPA regs.

If you buy a tractor battery (or anything off road that gets bounced around a lot) suggest asking if the plates are GLUED ON BOTH ENDS. Most automotive batteries only have the plates glued on one side which may be why some people are seeing them only last a couple of years.

I'm not involved with the battery industry but imagine their cost increases are like many other things. Increased cost of raw materials, EPA regulations, etc.

back in 06 I bought a battery for my jimmy at walmart for $27. Its still going strong. I need a battery for my tractor but the cost of them seems way to high to me now.

Where I live, Rural King has the best price, usually $30 cheaper. I think they are made by exide. Used them for years.

We have a auto salvage yard near by and you can buy used batteries for $19. $17 on Tues. If you are lucky the day you go, you can get some pretty good newer ones. They have a 90 day warranty and if they do crap after that, they are still worth that to sell as junk.

You must have a gasser. The 4DLT that goes in to the 3 cyl diesels are actually quite a bit chaeper. I think I paid around $125 for a 4dlt at Fleet Farm about a month ago. The battery for my gasser was about the same as yours at NAPA a year ago.

I bought a pair of Delco 950 CCA a couple months ago for $180.00 total out the door, $90.00 each at a local truck repair facility. Cheapest I could find anywhere around here. I was very happy with the price.

Yesterday I got a new group 78 Dura-Start/Exide 770 CCA on sale for $69.95 at Runnings ($10 off). It replaced a Walmart Ever-Start Maxx/Exide 800 CCA purchased in May 2004 that was too weak for another Minnesota winter.

I hope the new one lasts close to as long as the old one did.

NAPA batteries used to be good for me, but the last one was replaced 3 times under warranty before I got a good one.

George I am pretty price savey and here on the hill we have about 63 batteries tonight. For the last 3 years have really relied on your Rural King for batteriesw and have been satisfied that they offred real value. I think the 4dhlt was in the 80 dollar range this week. I agree they are usuall cheaper than Napa and we also have an InterState account. When Rural King runs a sale we load up.

Just bought a battery today for my old 900 Case. Had a group 31 commercial battery that I bought 4 years ago, been giving me trouble all summer. Went to Farm & Fleet for the same battery- $85, 4 year warranty. The same CCA in their best (Platinum) auto battery was $80 with a 7 year warranty and 3 year free replacement. Guess which one I bought? Are the commercial batteries better? I don't think the tractor cares, and since it was a carry-out sale, the warranty is good no matter what I put it in. The auto battery I have in my 560 is 6 years old, and going strong. My 3 medium duty straight trucks will get auto batteries the next time around also. Longer warranty, less cost.

Bought one last weekend for my "95 Chrysler T&C minivan. Factory blems/2nds with a year warranty, $50 out the door. I"ve bought from this guy several times and not yet been disappointed.

Then don't go shopping for tires, you''l pass out for sure!

Farm store - Runnings - just restocked their battery isle. Don't see anything car/pickup sized over $100? They are once again carrying the big Ford tractor batteries, those of couse are well over $100, and a few special sized fellas are over.
