What the heck is going on? Fuel Prices

It's been doing that around here for quite awhile now. Up 20 cents one day, might drop 15 cents the next. I've quit trying to outguess it. When I need fuel, I buy it, but never more than I need.

Here on the eastern edge of Ne. gas was 3.39 two weeks ago. Then dropped 3.29, then in 3 days back to 3.45, now back to 3.39. I think they're trying to dazzle us with their fancy footwork.

This is just an educated guess, but oil has (more/less) followed the stock market up in recent weeks. I'll agree it does nor make sense though. It was $3.45 a week or so ago and $3.29 yesterday. My grocery store, Hy Vee, gives a floating discount of 1-9 cents per gallon. It was six cents off the posted price yesterday so I filled up. My only guess is they are trying to get rid of summer blend before switching to the winter blend.
To make matters worse Iowa is talking about an additional 8-10 cents per gallon state tax to upgrade roads.

Well you know the Oil Companies just announced that they made record profits last quarter so its time to jack up the prices so they can keep there streak going. You can thank congress for allowing 6 oil companies to merge into 3 now you don't have much competition between them, Plus the speculators are making a fortune off the market and the American public. Bandit

last week on this week in agribusness they "Claimed" it was because of the drilling in ND was using so much dsl that their is a "shortage"!!! YEH right

Same here in NE Pa, in the past two weeks Deisel went up and reg. gas came down by twenty cents each. gas is now 3.31 and deisel is 3.97.

Safeway supermarkets have fuel stations around here- get a 3 cent discount always, but get 10 cent discount if you buy enough groceries. I had a 10 coming, PStroke Ford was at a quarter tank, I decided I'd work it down a little more to get as much at a dime off as I could. It was $3.99.

Went back 2 days later to fill up- you guessed it, $4.09. There went my dime!

It's obvious, all those combines, trucks, tractors, semis, and trains hauling fall harvest cause a big demand!?,,?

Yeah,

That's what it is here today....4.10.

Kinda glad I started drivin' my old Chevy clunker even tho it's cost me a few sheckels to get 'er roadworthy again.

Here in Alberta I heard on the radio that a major component (hydrogen?????) is in short supply until around Nov 19th so the warnings of fuel shortages are being reported. What are the odds?

here in den. Colo, was going to fill up at a shell station, $3.66 with $.10 off with Kroger card [king soopers] $3.56, pump wouldn't take phone number to get discount, need card instead,[usually can input phone no] thought go home get card,,,, should be filled at $3.66,,, hell went up 20 cents by the time got card to go fill up...

They need a real reason to jack up prices????? When did that start?

It's really very simple. Crude prices go up, pump prices go up. Crude prices go down, pump prices go up.

And it's ALL G Bush's fault.

Wednesday afternoon Gasoline prices jumped 22 cents. Same day crude oil prices dropped 3%. We're told there is a slight surplus of gasoline in the region at this time. Make any sense???? NO!

I guess most here don't get to Michigan often. Our gas goes up and down .20-.30 per gallon at least once a week. Its not uncommon to put in gas in the evening and have it up a quarter by morning. Then it may gradually go down the next 4-5 days but not usually as low as where it started. Diesel flucuates but not usually as much. At one time they said the price had to be high because we weren't near a refinery, Really, how many are actually "near a refinery"

Well, let's look at it from a different angle. Back when gas was .15/gal a one cent jump was seven percent. Today if gas is let's say 3.60/gal, a 20 cent jump is six percent. We're just plain handling more dollars today. Fuel does change price a whole lot more often today than it did back then.

I used gas instead of diesel because back in the old days all we talked about was gas. Jim

They've lied about shortages and market demand and commodies for so long aand most believed the supply and demand lie, so now they're just proving it was all lies and that any thing they make up and tell the public the public has to just eat.
