4l60E tranny tcc question

I am trying to replace what GM calls a torque converter clutch electric solenoid on a 1997 K1500. The one GM gave me is wrong but it fits snug,is the same length etc. Only problem is the wire only goes in backwards. On the solenoid there are two groves(one big, one small) to prevent putting the wires on backwards as well as the pins being out of centre to prevent putting it on backwards. Both the orentation of the groove and the placement of the pins allow me to put the wires and connector only one way, the opposite of what it was. It would no longer clip to anything so nothing would be holding it properly but if it would work that way I don't really have a problem doing that. It shouldn't be a problem to secure it there with a small cable tie. Pisses me off that GM couldn't give me the right part but I need the truck early tomorrow.

Has the tranny ever been changed in the past?

Hopefully NOT, and did you take the VIN along and have them use it in the parts lookup process?

(Solenoids often have a diode built in to reduce back emf so as not to smoke the quad driver in the 'puter. If the connector does not match and the solenoid winds up connected backwards (diode forward biased) things are going to get UGLY!)

The TCC solenoid that you are replacing, does it go into the front oil pump of the transmission? The TCC solenoid on a 4l60E is connected to the internal transmission wiring harness from GM. The solenoid will have a long neck on it with a o-ring at the end of it,and will be held into place with two 10mm bolts. Sounds like they gave you the wrong solenoid.

That's what I wondered. I asked a few people about it and they were pretty sure it was held in by two bolts and you had to remove another solenoid to get to it. This one wasn't really that different than a shift solenoid but when I asked GM about it this is what they came out with and double checked the part number and name.
