OT, got a 89 F250 pick up. Water pump is leaking so I tried to get the old one off. Every bolt but 1 broke off flush with face of water pump. Pump won't budge either. What is best way to get pump off then balance of bolts out? I am thinking drill a couple 1/8" holes along side all rusty bolts in the pump then squirting in PB blaster. Hammer pump lose. Thoughts?

Good luck ,,those are a bear ! I have taken small drill bit and went around broken bolts then sprayed PB , or even Lime away toilet cleaner . Air hammer sometimes jars them loose . YOu may need new cover depending how badly it's rusted. Ford should have new bolts in stock , aftermarket may have them also .

most the time the bolts are stuck in the pump
& the frt cover, I've had to cut the pump with
a cut off wheel, But You got to becaureful not
to hut the frt cover,, I am assuming it;s a 302
or 351W?? Lotts of penatraiting oil!!! & a Hammer

Sounds like an aluminum pump body corrodded on to steel bolts.Get a can of Kroil and give it time to seep in.Aluminum on steel has been trouble since the early 30s with Ford, they never learn.

Had that happen on a chevy i was working on. Used a propane torch to heat the bolt and surrounding metal a bit then grabbed each with a good set of vice grips near the block. They turned out fairly easily after that. If that doesn't work, the best rust penetrant I have used is the Dodge brand. It is some fantastic stuff and I have used all that have been mentioned on this site.

Thanks. Drill bit idea seems best bet. Once pump is off, then I work on remaining bolt lengths with heat and more PB Blaster.
