Briggs--broke carb

Help!!! My tiller caught a root today in the tines while trying to loosen a little dirt and jumped forward into a tree. It hit the gas tank and broke the lower mounting ear off the carb. I need some ideas on where I can find a replacement carb or carb body. New or used. I'm not having much luck with Google. I'll call the small engine shops around here tomorrow but I'm afraid they will be very expensive. The engine info is: 5hp Briggs & Stratton Model: 135297 Type: 0157 Trim: 01 Code: 94012407

ebay. Look under Kart Racing. Should be able to pick one up pretty cheap. If have to pay much you might as well go to Harbor Freight and buy one of those little blue engines.

That would be a Pulsa Jet Carburetor Mt book shows a lot of surface around that area a possable option is to use a washer ground to fit into the (pocket)

and JB weld may work --- worth a try.

I got a replacement Tecumseh carb from Jack's Small Engine last year. It was backordered and took a couple of weeks, but I did finally get it.

It looks like Jack's sells carburetor P/N 498298 for $82.94. I don't see the carb body sold separately, which isn't surprising.

This page will take you to the assembly breakdown for your engine.

i am sure i could get you one with phone call don't have any used around right now that size. let me know should'nt be that expensive new. yes i am briggs dealer along with all the other small engines

Thank you everyone. According to the info y'all have shared I need part 498298 which is the whole carb. They don't sell just the body anymore. Jack's Small Engine has it for $82.94 + shipping. I tried a local small engine shop which has it for $104.45. The other place I was going to try locally was closed today so I'll try Monday. I feel brazing would be a gamble. You know how much people charge to do things and it's a big chunk broke off--the ear and part back into the intake runner. It'd probably be hard to get the mating surface flat and no air leaks etc. I've been scanning flea bay and found a couple used ones I think I'll bid on and see how that goes. If that doesn't go well I'll see who's cheapest and just order one. I'd rather do that as this engine has electric start etc than repower the tiller with a pull start harbor freight engine. Thanks for all the advise!
