Need some information on an Oliver 500 disel. Is this an imported David Brown tractor? How rare is it? How hard are parts to find for it? Tractor is complete, any quesses as to value? I do not know if it is running. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks JWalker

It's a David Brown, about 35 hp AFIK without going to a tractor reference book. Also AFIK David Brown parts will interchange. Don't know about D B parts availiability, but there were a lot of them sold. Have no idea about price except that it would have to be cheap.

I think it was Oliver sheetmetal on a DB 885- but someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Guess before I bought it, I'd make sure of the DB model no., then do some scouting on the Case/ DB sites regarding parts availability.

Indeed it is a DB 850. Not many out there. I know of 2 that are in running condition. Not as refined as the later DB's. Parts are harder to come by and more expensive than the later DBs. Most things would have to come from Canada or the UK as the 850 wasn't sold here.

About 15,000 850s were produced, 1500 or so Oliver 500s stick in my head.

I was not a DB fan and the 5oo had some issues weight to power, the 55 550 was a much better tractor. It may be a unique collector item like the long/fiat built olivers.

AFIK means "as far as I know".

Cheap to me would be under $1000, but that's just a guess since I haven't seen the tractor.
